Daily Routine of a Working Parent

Jim leaves home at around 7am to catch the bus to work, which takes about an hour to arrive. He gets to work by 8am and leaves at 5pm, arriving back home at around 6:30pm. When he returns home, he has dinner with his family and spends an hour playing with his kids before they go to bed. Then he and his wife watch TV, chat, or read until he goes to sleep at 10:30pm, following the same routine each day.

A Daily Routine!
- Kelly: What's your usual day like?
- Jim: I leave home at about a quarter to seven to catch the bus to work. It takes me
almost fifteen minutes to get to the bus stop.
- Kelly: And what time do you get to work?
- Jim: It takes about an hour to get there. The bus stops right in front of the office.
- Kelly: That's nice. And what time do you leave office?
- Jim: About five. I arrive back home about half past six.
- Kelly: Early enough to spend quality time with the family, right?
- Jim: I guess so. Dinner with the family is always great. I also play with the kids for
an hour or so.
- Kelly: What time do you go to bed?
- Jim: When the kids are safely tucked up in bed, my wife and I often watch little TV,
chat for a while, or read something. I go to bed about half past ten.
- Kelly: And then back to the same routine?
- Jim: True. But I actually enjoy my life.
- Kelly: Lucky you!
- Jim: However, I think my wife has the hardest job. She spends her whole day taking
care of the family. She drives the kids to school, to the gym, to piano lessons, you
name it. She does the shopping. She tends the little garden. It's a full-time job, but she
enjoys what she
- Kelly: Happy for you both!
- Jim: Thank you.
