An answer that is too short (e.g. below 70
words) may not answer the question fully.
If your answer is too long it may contain
unnecessary information or have more
mistakes.
Check the accuracy and consistency of your
language
You should always check your writing to
make sure your meaning is clear. Correct any
grammatical errors which might include:
© wrong tense
wrong word form e.g. my suggested [verb]
instead of my suggestions [noun]
missing articles (a, an, the)
subject-verb agreement mistakes
Remember to use the same spelling for the
same word throughout your answer. Use British
spelling, like colour or realise (not color or
realize in American English).

What if the stimulus or question asks for a letter in reply?
It’s simple. Just write your answer following the format of a letter.
If you are asked to reply or write to a family member, a friend or a classmate - write an informal letter
and use an informal greeting and sign off. Use informal language in your letter. Example: It’s great to
hear youre ... instead of It is good to hear that ..., Yours instead of Yours faithfully and so on.
