PRINT CHECKLIST
To Print Considerations
1 copy (on cardstock if possible), if you are going to be doing
stations. If each group will be working on the same task at the
Station Cards same time, then you might want to include 1 copy of the same
station card for the number of groups participating in that
challenge.
Challenge 1 copy per group, but you may choose to give each individual
Instructions student participating in the challenge a copy for their own
records as well.
FOLDER Challenge #1: Christmas Carols [Supplies needed: writing utensils]
Christmas 1 copy per group. (You may want to increase the size by using
Carol the enlarge image button. It may take a few tries to get the
Challenge various enlargement ratios in order to ensure nothing is cut off.)
1 copy per group. To save time (instead of cutting out the carol
cards), you may want to print out the cards and give to the
Carol Cards students as a whole-page handout. PREP NOTE: If you choose to
cut out each of the cards, consider printing on cardstock or
laminate for longevity.
(optional) Choose the length of time that you would like your
(LUMP OF COAL) students to remain out of the game for having incorrect
Penalty Cards responses on their “Christmas Carol Challenge” handout. Print a
few copies and write in the (time delay) number.
FOLDER Challenge #2: Christmas Headlines [Supplies needed: writing utensil]
1 copy per group. (Please refer to the teacher instruction page
located in the “Challenge #1” folder, as to how you will present
Encrypted this activity to your students.) i.e. beginner, intermediate or
Message challenging. The option you choose will not affect the number
of copies being printed; rather, the way in which the handouts
will be given to the students. [Note: Large copy of the
encrypted message available on the last page of this file.]
News Articles 1 copy per group. (You may want to increase the size by using
1, 2, & 3 the enlarge image button. It may take a few tries to get the
various enlargement ratios to ensure nothing is cut off).
(optional) Choose the length of time that you would like your
(NAUGHTY LIST) students to remain out of the game for having incorrect
Penalty Cards responses on their “Encrypted Message” handout. Print a few
copies and write in the (time delay) number.
1 copy per group (3 cards in total) PREP NOTE: Each of the three
clue cards will have to be cut out. The clue cards are
Clue Cards deliberately labeled 1 – 3 (the answers on the first “1” card only
provide letters for symbols that are within the message once or
twice). The third card; however, provides answers for symbols
that appear several times within the message. [See answer key folder]
FOLDER Challenge #3: Christmas Treats [Supplies needed: writing utensil]
1 copy per group. (You may want to increase the size by using
Word Maze the enlarge image button. It may take a few tries to get the
various enlargement ratios in order to ensure nothing is cut off.)

FOLDER Challenge #4: Christmas Movies [Supplies needed: writing utensils]
Christmas 1 copy per group. There are four pages in this document, so you

Unlock the 1 copy per group. (To be given after students have correctly

FOLDER Challenge #5: Ornament Race [Supplies needed: colored pencils]
Scavenger 1 copy per group. You will need to decide which of the two
Hunt options given your students will use to complete the race. Once
Instructions you decide on either option A or B, give a copy to each of the
number of groups participating.
1 copy per group (to start). It would be helpful to have at least
2-3 extra copies per group, in the event that some of their
Tree decorations are incorrect. To save paper, you may choose to

copies, to ensure that they take their time and review their
responses.
1 copy per group. To save time (instead of cutting out each

choose to cut out each of the ornaments, consider printing on
cardstock or laminate for longevity.
WRAP-UP ACTIVITIES
(optional) 1 copy per student. Note: If you are looking for some
Post- reflection/feedback after this activity, consider giving them this
Challenge activity. If you, as the teacher, have any feedback, I would love

Challenge (optional) 1 copy per student. Note: There are three different
Certificate options included; three certificates with a ‘Santa Claus’
signature and three blank, so you can type in the name of a
teacher.
Display on a bulletin board or give to students
at the end of the activity in a page protector
sheet to keep (or put in a final course portfolio).
