CRITERION D — EVALUATING
Strand 1: Design detailed and relevant testing methods, which generate data to measure
the success of the solution.
After creating the solution to the problem that was facing the community,I decided to make use
of relevant testing methods such as surveys and questionnaires through Google forms and
field trials to measure the success of my product.
Expert evaluation
For the expert,I decided to interview my art and design teacher and still undertaking creative
media as his BTEC,he has a vast knowledge on poster creation, filming and editing, and a pro in
various poster techniques. He was able to save some time so that he would be able to evaluate
my product or areas on improvement.Below are the questions and answers that were involved
in the interview with him.based on the success criteria.
From the interview with him,he was mostly pleased with the organization's structure of my end
product, the font color of the poster, the text style and such specifications present in the
poster. However,he made suggestions on what I could improve in them.
Interview questions and answer.
Questions Answers

First,it was to add more information in the poster specifically in the introduction of the poster and
the explanation of the problem, “FRACTURES”which were less explained compared to other
points. He also suggested on the change of using plain text for titles and captions,in which I
would add text effect to make it more colorful and make a perfect visual appealing texts.
End user feedback
For this,I had requested feedback through Google forms for what they think about the poster,if it
had met their expectations/needs and suggestions for improvement to be made .Below are
images of the response’s that I got.I decided not to include much questions to spend only a little
of their time in answering my survey question.

Environmental considerations.
The poster was made as a yes Environmental responsibility is one of the factors
digital poster, and for this that made the choice of me using a digital device
reason it had minimal and in making the poster for me.I decided not to use a
less effect to the natural physical/tangible poster for some reasons such as
environment, both direct and environmental factors. The poster is
indirect effects will be less environmentally friendly. The making process did
not involve or use natural materials or non

like mine, digital posters have a better
environmental footprint than print posters because
you do not need to use papers thus leading to
deforestation.
Size
does the size of my poster fit yes my poster is in the ratio 4:3(standard size) and I
on the screen of the devices also to make it in the ratio 16:9(widescreen)
used because of the different devices used in the school
eg. iPad,MacBook, computers, smartphones and
iMacs.and at the end I used 11” x 17” typical
dimensions of the poster in All the devices.I also
had to conduct a survey to find out if the poster was
at the best size and the best to go through it.
Out of 9 responses on a scale of 1 to 10 I got one
“8” and 8 “10” which implies that I just needed to
lessen the width of the poster with 0.23cm.
Safety
Does the poster contain No I was able to meet these expectations by going

religion matters in the community as a factor he
knows the words to use that will not harm the
individuals.

Does the poster opens in yes From the user trial I realized and it was evident
different media in perfect that the video could be opened in various
format media, without the images and the graphics
aparting. The reason is that in the making
process I used the best form of JPEG format of
the pictures I used.
Does the information included yes From the google survey that I conducted some few

We’re any other materials yes Alongside the making process i used apps such as
such as “auto draw” for the drawing purposes to pass more

had drawn in auto draw which was not able to color
the shapes.
“Photos app” I used these to crop pictures that I had
screenshot from auto draw which was not able to
export or import a file.
Strand 3:Demonstrates how the solution could be improved
By the help of the feedback of my end product from all the members of the community and the
experts with the users,I was able to distinguish the areas that need improvement and the
strength of my poster.
Strengths of the video.
The purpose/aim of the poster was met, since the aim of making the poster was to pass and
create awareness of FRACTURES injury types which had been on increase in the school
community,so I wanted to create a poster so that the community members know more about
fractures. The information that I included in the poster or involved in the poster was simple
8
because of the use of common terms which could be understood easily and without them
involving there minds in thinking the meaning of what the used words could mean.
Another strength of the poster was that it was able to be opened and accessed through
different media and shared through various apps. This eased the accessing process and made it
reliable for the end users anytime they need the poster for reference.
With the use of Canva app, which is a powerful poster making software,it enabled me to add
imported and export files from other apps that were assisting me in the making process. This
was advantageous as sending the file to other members of the community was easy and
effective,just through my iPad.
The poster's other strength was that it was a highly effective means of communication about the
fractures that had attacked the school sports department and the studies department. It was
again a visual medium that was quickly capture of attention of a target audience, was able to
convey key information, and leave a lasting impression. One of the main advantages of the
poster and we all know is that they can be highly targeted.
Limitations to the poster
The poster has limited information when it comes to in depth information about the fractures and
the ways to do first aid when involved in such a fracture injury. I just provided an overview of the
injury type fractures which had been on the rise in the school clinic department. This made the
user to be left in suspense on what fractures had done to the school community and made the
end user want to know more about the information of the poster. That had limited how much
information the students and every other member of the community would get about from the
poster.
Another limitation of the poster is that once I have published it and shared it it will be difficult to
make corrections or adaptations; it will therefore be less flexible when compared to a
presentation that can be modified anytime.
From the feedback that I got from my peers, they said that the poster had a bit of words going to
the graphics and images that I was involved in and this interrupted the background clarity of the
poster and which the students and the community members would find it difficult to understand
and figure out the text and the meaning of the text. This brought distractions when the people
were going through the poster, which was a limitation to the poster.
I was unable to add all images about fractures that I intended to add, especially the photos of
how the fractures are got,and if I could have added, the words would not be visible enough to a
greater distance so I had to eliminate other intended photos. And this was a distance and
visibility limit for the poster. And this was a limit of important information through the use of
images.
Improvements to be made to the poster.
An improvement first limitation is to add more information about fractures(what is fractures, how
are they got, what are the effects and ways to prevent them)The addition of the text will be
elaborating more on the how the fractures and got and situations where they occur and the
activities that mostly led to fractures, this would make it precise more precise and viewers will
understand better why the school clinic patients with fractures injury has been on rise.
The expert whom I had interviewed suggested an improvement which I had accepted,in using
captions,I would add my own words as a caption in the heading and the body as a type of
adding text/information to the poster which was a limitation. This addition of text would be
9
appropriate because they will be words and graphics which I had not added earlier but they will
play a great role in passing the information to the end use. This would make it easy and simply
for them to understand.
For the background note to be clear because of the word going in the photos,I will try Increasing
the length of the poster so that I have a larger surface area to work on.This is to ensure that the
poster has no words inside the images that I used in the poster that will distract the end user.
Strand 4: Explain the impacts of th solutions to the target audience
To what extent has the target audience “problem been solved”
__The poster on creating awareness about fractures in the school community has impacted the
targeted audience prodigious, the main aim/purpose for this project was to create awareness
about fractures that had been on increase in the school community. From the target audience
feedback, most of them said that the information was very useful, and it make someone to have a
clear pictures of how the problem looks like and the activities that the fractures are got in the
school sports and the other places of the school, from the survey, I asked, how useful is the
information? 90.9% of the respondents answered it was useful, while 9.1%said that it lacked
details to be useful for a particular topic. This data showcased good results as the informative
poster that allowed all members to feel inclusive on knowing more about
fractures.Additionally, everyone I interviewed really liked the how I brought out the various
information about fractures which was very helpful and how I presented the whole poster.
To what extent has the design brief been met?
I know that the design brief has fully been met,the reason being that the solution was making an
informative poster that mainly target the sportsmen in the academy. The informative poster
created made the community aware of the injury type that had been on increase in the school
medical facility. The information include made them understand more about fractures and how
they are got in the school.furthermore the poster included some students personal experience at
the school where they have been injured and got fracture,I did not write this information of the
personal experience in details because of the less need of writing it,I used some of the words
that when I was conducting the interview for the already injured students to create the call for
action of the poster. This is what one of the students who had been hurt
said. The use of the words said by the community members helps them to relate with the poster
and add a personal touch with the poster.Using the knowledge that I had used on researching
on the design brief,I was able to incorporate images into the poster which most of the
communications, since people interpret images much quicker than texts. Thus, they were more
important to the poster. And I was able to achieve this because the feedback from the response
of the target audience was showcased that the fonts and images matched.
The problem shared at the beginning of this design unit was about creating a solution to a
problem in the community.Upon brainstorming and research,I figured that simply put, I have to
create a poster to create awareness about fractures in the academy. The school community was
10
my client. My client had the problem of fractures as a result of not knowing more about the
injury.I decided to make a product that will help my client know more about fractures
Through research and interviews, I found that a digital poster would be the best product to make
for the creation of awareness. My product was highly appraised by my client at the end of the
making process and it received excellent remarks as observed in the client feedback. My client
approved and was impressed by the design of the product. As mentioned,my design was able to
meet all design specifications, and the requirements mentioned by the client. It also met the
original design brief which I synthesized in the beginning of the project. However, one of the
places I can work on is the quality of the product.
To conclude,I believe I have been able to create a successful, effective, and satisfactory product
which boosts the productivity o my client.I believe I have also done the justice to the global
context, key concept, related concept and the statement of inquiry systematically to make a
well-functioning product which brings information to my client’s problem and in turn drives the
clients actions as an individual.
