HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS SW 408

Section 1a : Description of Waste

Product name : Contaminated soil, water, debris, matter


Physical properties : Solid

Section 1b : Origin of Waste

Waste from cleaning up oil or chemical spill.

Section 2 : Safety Precaution & PPE

Eyes : Safety glass / goggles


Hands : Rubber gloves
Feet : Safety shoes / chemical resistant boots
Skin : Coverall
Respiratory : NIOSH approved respirator

Section 3b : Specific Handling Instructions

When handling product in drums, safety boot should be worn and proper handling equipment should be used.
Prevent spillages. Keep in cool and dry well ventilated place. Keep container closed. Avoid moisture, drum
should kept in ambient temperature environment (25 - 35 oC)

Section 4 : First Aid Measures

Eye : Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at 15 minutes, lifting lower and upper
eyelids occasionally. Get medical attention immediately.
Skin : Wash exposed area with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and launder
before reuse. Seek medical advice if severe irritation occurs or symptoms arise.
Inhalation : Move victim to fresh air and rest. If victim has difficulty breathing, provide breathing
assistant and obtain immediate medical attention.
Ingestion : Not expected to require first aid measures. If large amounts were swallowed, give large
water to drink and obtain medical attention.
