Clean Up Drive (K-11)

I. Project Proposal Title

CLEAN-UP DRIVE: Go Green, Breathe Clean; Let us nurture nature for a nurturing
future!

II. Target Community

The activity aimed to sustain cleanliness in the said barangay, especially in the areas
around Campo. The Barangay Captain and other participants from the Barangay Council,
Sangguniang Kabataan, Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Tanods, and concerned residents
will also be encouraged to take part in the program.

III. Community Background

Having a spick-and-span environment is what we all want to achieve and attain. We all
deserve a better place where we can grow and thrive. Clean Up Day is one of many community
projects that can help maintain the cleanliness of our surroundings. The Clean Up drive is done
to encourage waste reduction, recycling, and reuse as well as to raise public awareness of
environmental and waste management issues, to enhance community outdoor leisure activities,
and to prevent climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing the quality
of the environment. We, the students, initiate this activity because of our desire to clean the area
where our school also resides. Barangay Campetic (Campo Area) is the place we chose to
conduct the said clean-up drive. As we survey the area, we see a lot of trash, which motivates us
to do the activity. As our motto says, "Go Green, Breath Clean," we want to make the most of it.

Throwing of waste products along the way of Barangay Campetic, Palo. Leyte is
observed as the population and number of commercial buildings increase. Difficulties in
controlling its residence and ensuring proper disposal of its garbage have been a problem for its
environment. As part of the main objective of the proposed project, a clean-up drive of Palo,
Leyte, as well as its nearby areas, will be conducted.
This aims to promote a better environment for the residents of the barangay. In a twist,
this project involves not just the CWTS students but also the residents, with the help of barangay
officials. This will encourage them to maintain the cleanliness and will hone their ability to get
along with others, aside from helping them live in a better environment. This would also help
minimize the garbage in the areas, prevent diseases caused by improper waste disposal, and
provide abundant opportunities for the residents.

This project aims to raise awareness among community members or residents of

Barangay Campetic, Palo, Leyte. To prolong the life of our landfill, we need to reduce the
amount of solid waste destined for disposal by preventing its generation and increasing reuse,
recycling, composting, and other organic material recycling methods. We also need to be leaders
in environmental stewardship and position the community to take advantage of provincial
recycling system reforms. In support of this, change is required with respect to the existing
system.

IV. Project Rationale

The afore mentioned exercise aims to promote cleanliness in the barangay, enhance community
outdoor leisure opportunities in the area and to raise public awareness of proper waste
management and environmental issues. This will help in minimizing improper garbage disposal,
pollutions, prevent different diseases and they will promote to maintenance in cleaning the
surrounding.

V. Objectives

The main objective of this project is to help reduce waste in our surroundings. We want
to encourage not just the residents of barangay Campetic, Palo Leyte but every barangay to stay
clean and have a surrounding that is beneficial to everyone in the community since we want an
environment free from liters and an environment full of trees.
Furthermore, we seek to provide awareness of how much we are wasting every day. We
want to make a statement that we could reuse this waste as we recycle it. This is for us to teach
them and make it as “persuasive” as possible for them to participate.
Lastly, we want to encourage and persuade the community to participate in sensational
and constructive activities, by pointing out the idea of having fun for a reasonable cause.
