Kabataan ba talaga ang Pag-asa ng Bayan?

CHILD LABOR IN THE PHILIPPINES

INTRODUCTION.
The enormous count of poor family and poverty is one of the main reasons of why child

laboring in the Philippines is still increasing and worsening year by year, sadly it was

passed down by generations. Based on the 2011 survey of Philippine Statistic

Authorization over 5.2 million children are forced to worked, out of 5.2 million children’s

laborers 3.2 million of them are in hazardous work and still increasing based on the 2021

survey conducted by International Labour Organization (ILO) aging 5 years old to 17 years

old internationally and globally. Most of them are not going to school or drop out to school

and abandoned their education to focus more on working to survive every day. This problem

is very alarming and contradicting. This may have a huge impact on the child’s growth

physically and mentally and putting them at risk because they are prone in abuse and
criminal’s that use children for their illegal doings. Based on the Documentation by Atom

Araullo titled “Munting Bisig” shows the working children amid global pandemic to help their

family to survive. Atom’s met the 12 years old Joshua the bread winner of his Family, Joshua

forced to worked because he wanted to help his family. His parents don’t have a regular job

because of the pandemic and his father is sick. He said that his doing this for his family to

at least lessen their expenses and he want to buy his mother a new phone and to have

electricity at their home. The second one is Pancho, the youngest compressor diver at their

barangay in Paracale, Camarines Norte. at the age of 15 he is forced to work in the

dangerous kind of work. Unlike Joshua, Pancho does not have the opportunity to go to

school no matter he really wanted to. This documentation said that child labor increases

because of the global pandemic. This is two out of a million case of child laboring in the

Philippines. It shows the hard work and dedication of the children to help his/her family.

THOUGHTS, FEELINGS, AND OPINION.

This is a very serious problem that really need to be focus, as the study said it was passed

through generations. Meaning it’s being cycled, the father experienced the child labor and

his child will experience what he experience. The study itself guide the researcher to

formulate the title “ Kabataan ba talaga ang Pag-asa ng bayan? “ because how can they

be the hope of this country if they are not going to the school anymore. And being

educated will give them a high possibility of being successful and high possibility of having

an sustainable work in the future. I feel sad for the young Filipino laborer because at this

age they need to focus on their selves. Playing and socializing with the other children and

studying in school. In my Opinion we need to solve the problem in Poverty, give the

parents a proper job and help the poor families, give more focus on free education so that
anyone can have the access on the education. Another is enhancing the laws about child

laboring protection.

CONCLUSION.

The conclusion of this study is to solve the problem in child laboring in the Philippines the

government should be more focused on this problem than doing any platforms that no

one is benefiting. Help the Filipino workers to have a sustainable job, give free education

to young Filipino, build or enhance the existing laws and new programs that can be

beneficial to the children. We should be more aware of the problem in this country so that

we could help the poor people and also we will be the one that speaks for them.
