Consensus Theory
1. United States of America is one of the most diverse country in the world since it became one of
the most immigrant-worthy state. This proceeds with people that lives together despite the fact
of having different traditions, norms and attitude or rules. Now this became a subject foe
chaotic living among people. But because US Government had implemented rules and
regulations living the idea of the ‘American Dream’, people, regardless of age, gender, race and
religion chose to comply and eventually lived harmoniously.
2. In observance of their religion: Congregation of YAHWEH, my former Catholic classmate has to
observe different practices such as not eating pork and chicken meat, some seafoods,
crustaceans and the like that allegedly God forbids His people to each according to the Old
Testament of the Bible. Everyone in their religion must confer to these practices regardless of
how long they have been a member to the said congregation, they live in another place, they
are poor or wealthy and other differences they have. They are all still bonded with their faith
and dogma through their simple sacrifices that are reflected in their practices.
Conflict theory
1. In ancient times, women are considered slaves in the community. They are as good as pets that
men treated them as the housekeeper, child bearer (in which after, some abandoned them) and
a mere object to satisfy personal instant gratification. They don’t even allow to go out to attend
their personal needs and most what is worst is that they are not being counted in the
demographic record in the society. But then, women learned to fight for their right. They moved
out to their shells and showed the community of patriarchy that women can also be a soldier, a
not a mere child-bearer but life, get a living and most especially can stand for their own without
the dependence of men behind. Women got to experience the privilege of suffrage. They
already play a very significant roles in the society. This is then the birth of Feminism.
2. We all know that there is a constant struggle and conflict between poor and wealthy citizens in
our country. Generally, these poor classes are described as the low-income earners while the
rich ones are the high-income earners. As the time goes by, the situation becomes more and
more evident. Now it appears the wealth gap has widened and the social discontent is on the
rise as populist politics becomes front and center. Consistent with conflict theory, as the divide
between the rich and the poor grows, tension rise, politics become divisive and the stage is set
for conflict.
