  • Present Simple: Explains the use of Present Simple tense including positive, negative, and question forms, with examples and diagrams.

 We use PS to talk about habits or routines

 With HE/ SHE / IT we add S, ES, IES to the verbs in positive sentences.

 S: We add -S to most verbs. Eg: live – lives, visit – visits


 ES: We add –ES when the verb ends in (ch, sh, ss, x, o) Eg: watch – watches , brush –
brushes, pass – passes , go – goes
 IES: We add –IES when the verb ends in consonant + y. We take out the letter y and
add –IES. Eg: study –studies
 When we make questions we have to remember the following acronyms
 ASI: Yes / Questions
Eg: Do you live in an apartment? Does she work in a hospital?

Aux Sub Verb (inf) Aux Sub Verb (inf)

 QASI: Wh- questions


Eg: Where do you live? Where does she work?

Wh-word Aux Sub Verb (inf) Wh-word Aux Sub Verb (inf)
