LEARNING to LEARN
EDITH YEMEH MENSAH
Learning starts with your mindset. Is it a punishment or a fun activity for you?
Thinking positively(like saying 'I will pass this exam.') enables you to learn
effectively whiles thinking negatively(like saying ‘I always fail this subject’)
make it hard for you to learn.
Make learning a fun activity and you will succeed in all that you do.
1. Where should I learn?
It is not good to learn in a place where there is a lot of noise or distractions.
Learn in a clean and quiet environment where you can concentrate. Everyone
is different so it is important to find the place where you are comfortable and
are able to focus and learn. After studying myself, I found out that I learn
well when I have music playing in the background. This has helped me a lot
when studying for exams because I know my ideal environment when it
comes to learning. Find your ideal environment and start learning.
2. Organise yourself.
Take along everything you need when you are going to learn. Nothing is
more time-consuming or irritablethan having to run back and forth for your
pen, notebook or homework that you forgot to bring.
3. Rewrite and Revise your own notes.
When you rewrite your notes in your own words, you are going over what
you already know. You may ask why must I keep repeating my notes? This
is because repetition is equal to recollection(Remembering).
