RSG 2023
Carrom Rules
● Game Start:
○ Players or teams establish the order of play through a toss or mutual agreement.
○ The initial player endeavors to disrupt the starting arrangement of carrom men by
executing a precise strike at the center circle of the board.
○ The choice of a black or white set depends on the pocket of the first piece.
● Striking the Carrom:
○ Players take turns executing strikes with the striker. A successful strike involves
aiming and releasing the striker with a flick of the fingers; failure results in a foul.
○ The striker must make contact with at least three lines on the board before
release; otherwise, it is considered a foul.
○ To avoid fouls, the striker must cover the circles on the left and right sides of the
board's corners, ensuring it does not cross the corner line.
○ Direct contact between the striker and the opponent's piece is considered a foul.
● Pocketing Carrom:
○ Players continue their turn until they are unsuccessful in pocketing their
designated carrom piece.
● Queen's Role:
○ The Queen holds a special status and can be pocketed, along with covering it
with another carrom piece.
● Fouls:
○ Fouls incur a penalty, resulting in the forfeiture of the player's next turn.
● Winning:
○ The primary goal is to skillfully pocket all of your carrom men along with the
Queen before your opponent achieves the same. If the Queens is covered in the
middle of the game then just need to pocket all of your pieces to claim victory.
○ The team that successfully pockets all of their carrom pieces emerges victorious.
○ If only three pieces remain (Queen, black piece, and white piece), and the player
pockets the opponent's piece in their move, the opponent claims victory.
○ If there is only 1 carrom piece remaining then the Queen must be pocketed
before the Carrom piece to claim victory.
