Understanding The Readiness of Career Decision Making of Grade 10 Students of General Licerio Topacio
National High School in S.Y. 2022-2023

INTRODUCTION

Career decisions shape individuals’ futures and navigating this process is often intricate (Akpochafo,
2021). As young adults at General Licerio Topacio National High School in S.Y. 2022-2023 embark on this
crucial journey, some encounter difficulties and dilemmas (Abdinoor & Ibrahim, 2019). Chaudhary et al.
(2019) revealed that 40% of students experience confusion in choosing a career path, leading to program
shifts in college. Understanding the readiness of students in this decision-making process becomes
paramount.

MAIN BODY

This research aims to gauge the readiness of Grade 10 students at General Licerio Topacio National High
School in their career decision-making for S.Y. 2022-2023. The insights gained will serve as a valuable
reference for career planning orientations, guiding decisions, and aiding teachers in discussions about
career choices.

CONCLUSION

In an era marked by technological and societal shifts, career choices for students have become more
intricate (Viktória Kulcsár, 2020). Recognizing the areas where students face challenges is crucial for
providing effective support in their career decision-making process.

Schmidt, Nagy, and Fleckenstein’s (2017) study emphasizes the positive correlation between career
decision-making self-efficacy and proactive career exploration, Higher self-efficacy levels contribute to
engaging in activities like gathering information and seeking guidance. Strengthening students self-
efficacy in career decision-making emerges as a vital aspect of guiding them through this intricate
journey
