Hi everyone, Terry here again with another tutorial for Siege
Studios Patreon.
This is a shorter one showing how easy it is to get a quick heated
weapon effects with a few colours and very little time!
The parts have all been cleaned and assembled. | mounted them
on sticks to easily handle them without touching the parts. | used
Chaos Black spray from Games Workshop to undercoat them.

STEP 1
The metal parts are all base coated with GW Iron Hands Steel. The flamer barrels were base coated with GW Balthasar Gold.STEP3
The metal parts were all washed with GW Nuln Oil, the gold parts
were washed with GW Agrax Earthshade.Game Bronze
STEP4
The first part of the heat effect is applied using either drybrushing
or airbrushing. Both techniques will yield similar results. Focus on
getting half of the weapons barrel a nice bronze colour, | used
Vallejo Game Air Bright Bronze.STEP 5
(Scale 75)
Using a vibrant purple/violet you'll need to drybrush/airbrush over
the bronze, leaving some of the bronze showing on the part
furthest away from the tip of the gun. I’ve used Scale 75 Sunset
Purple, but any vibrant purple/violet will work fine here. A good
option if you have it is Vallejo Game Air Hexed Lichen.STEP 6

The next colour up is Vallejo Game Air Magic Blue, as with the
purple in the previous step the exact colour isn’t important, just a
nice vibrant blue will do. Leave some of the purple visible and
focus the colour towards the end of the barrels. As with the
previous steps this can be airbrushed or dry brushed.Model Color Black

Repeat the previous step but this time using black. This is to give
the end of the barrels a very worn smokey look. | used Vallejo
Model Colour Black which is very matt and looks great in this
situation.on Hands Steel

To finish off weathered look | dry brushed all the barrels with Silver. Don't go
overboard with this last step as you want the previous colours to still be nice
and visible.
So there you have it, a quick 8 step guide on heated weapon barrels. It only
requires a few colours and some simple techniques. It goes great on most
space marine weapons and adds something interesting to what would
normally be a plain silver barrel. As always if you have any feedback or
questions let us know and they will be passed on to me. Enjoy your painting!
