and on top, allow for the weight of the beam and take the limiting tensile stress
as 150MPa. What are the working stresses in the section you have chosen?
If the limiting resultant compressive stress induced in the section you have just
chosen must not exceed 70MPa, determine the maximum axial compressive
load that can be applied to the beam. Under these conditions what are the final
