PEOPLE’S PAVILION
We were venturing across
the soggy ground, taking in the
bustling scenery of the festival.
when a swarm of humans with
large bubbled wi ambushed
and surrounded us. We looked
around the cocoon of people in
dazed confi
The formation then erupt-
ed into motion as they began
to clap and dance and we were
obliged to mirror their move-
ments to the beat of the music.
lronivally, it was us, naked with-
out netted shields, who were the
odd ones out, Nonetheless. their
entrapment removed us from
the outside world: we were free
from the constrictions of soci-
etal norms. As we giggled and
danced treely with strangers. all
judgement was lost. Distracted
through dance, the human but-
lerflies handed us shots of fizzy
orange liquid, like a token of in-
itiation ta become one of them.
The magic dispersed as they
suddenly parted. swooping off
with swaying motions like Chi-
nese dragons.
We called out after them,
“Who are you?”
