INTERVIEW

This interview will show the reasons why Reyna Abarca, an active nurse, has chosen nursing as a
profession, how she interacts with her co-workers and what her goals are regarding the patient:

Reyna Abarca Pérez.

-WHY A CAREER IN NURSING?

-By vocation. Even when I was little I wanted to study nursing. I have always been very interested in
helping people, healing them and being useful in some way.

– HAS THAT IDEAL OF A NURSE CHANGED?

-No. I am more than satisfied with this choice. People come to hospitals scared, they are afraid, and you
as a professional have to give them confidence and transmit security and tranquility. We must try to
support them at all times and so that they do not have the feeling of being alone.

– HOW DOES FELLOWSHIP WORK HERE?

–I've been very lucky, really. My colleagues have helped me a lot and have not left me aside at any time. I
am very happy and I feel very lucky in that aspect.

ITS DUTIES?
1. Treat patients with kindness and properly uniformed

2. Take the patient's vital signs

3. Be prepared for any medical emergency

4. Be present at each procedure performed by the doctor

5. Give injections, refer patients, follow Dr. instructions.

6. It may be that the Dr. prefers a nurse who also acts as secretary.

7. The nurse must set an example, try not to have any type of drug addiction, whether alcohol or
cigarettes, and this behavior is unacceptable in the medical office or surrounding areas.

8. Both the nurse and the secretary are the doctor's right hand and are essential in managing the medical
office.

- IN THE FACE OF THE CUSTOMER…?

–I demand that they are well, that they do not suffer, that they feel good and at ease, comfortable, as if
they were at home, wow.
– YOUR WORK AS A NURSE?

– Here we feed them, we make sure they urinate, that they take their medication and that they stay
there for a while until the anesthesia wears off and they feel well enough to return home.

– WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF FROM HERE IN A FEW YEARS?

–Working as a nurse, but I don't know where or how. Another goal would be to prepare for exams with
the idea of having continuity and greater security that would not be limited to working in the summer.

– HOW DO YOU AVOID WORK?

–I escape by doing what I like: going to dinner, to the movies, to the beach, interacting with friends.

HOW IS A NURSE DIFFERENT FROM A DOCTOR?

Doctor:
observes and studies the person's vital signs, diagnoses the disease,
operates on the patient
and prescribes medicine to the sick.

The nurse:
take care of the sick,
assists (helps) the doctor in the operation of the patient,
provides medicines (or what he needs) to the patient according to the doctor's prescription,
takes care of the patient's vital signs,
bathes the sick
and makes reports to the doctor about the patient's progress or situation.

ARE MORE NURSES NEEDED IN HOSPITALS?

If many nurses and also doctors are needed

WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THE PATIENT?

Very good but sometimes some patients are very exaggerated or very violent

WOULD YOU ADD ANY QUESTION THAT I HAVE NOT ASKED YOU AND WOULD YOU CONSIDER OF
INTEREST?
