INFORMATION
You are invited to participate as a subject in the research project Parental approval and
disapproval and the psychological impact on interracial marriage in Malaysia. The aim of this
project is to what are some familial difficulties these Malaysian interracial couples faced to get
their parents approval in marriage and how important was it for them to get their parents approval.
Besides that, the aim of this research is also to explore what are some psychological issues faced
by these interracial couples.
Your involvement in this project will be answering the questions by the researcher during an online
interview, which will be done via audio or video calling through Skype. The questions given will
include demographic questions and open-ended questions. Participants can participate in this
project voluntarily and they have the right to withdraw from the project at any time, including
withdrawal of any information provided.
In the performance of the tasks and application of the procedures there are risks of certain
emotions of participants to get disturbed.
The results of the project may be published, but you may be assured of the complete
confidentiality of data gathered in this investigation: the identity of participants will not be made
public without their consent.
To ensure anonymity and confidentiality, the researcher will use nicknames to identify each
participant instead of using their personal names and also the recording of video will be deleted
after the data has been transcribed.
The project is being carried out as a requirement for Creative Integration Research Project (CIRP)
under Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) by Thiviyashini a/p Sivakumar under the supervision of Ms.
Sam Jeng Mun, who can be contacted at +60129167473. He/she/they will be pleased to discuss
any concerns you may have about participation in the project.
The project has been reviewed and approved by the Taylor’s University Human Ethics Committee.
