Lab 01: Simulation of RLC circuit

Analysis of Electrical Machines
Course Instructor: - Dr. Rajesh M. Pindoriya

Aim: - To simulate the RLC circuit in the MATLAB/ Simulink environment

Objective: - To simulate the RLC circuit in the MATLAB/Simulink environment and observe
the waveforms across the load voltage, power, and current flow through the circuit.
Name of the components with rating: - Resistor (10 Ω), Inductor (10 mH), Capacitor (10 µF),
Volt meter, Ammeter, mathematical tools, Voltage source, Scope, Connecting wire, and Power
GUI.

Questions and answers: -

1. What is MATLAB/Simulink software and why do we use it?

MATLAB is a mathematical software package that are used for analyzing and solving
mathematical problems and Simulink is a MATLAB based graphical programming environment
for modeling, simulating and analyzing multi-domain dynamical systems.
MATLAB/Simulink is used for enabling to incorporate MATLAB algorithms into models and
export simulation results to MATLAB for further analysis.
2. Why we used the powergui block in MATLAB/Simulink?

The powergui block are used to simulate power systems and power electronics in
MATLAB/Simulink.

Conclusions: -
After completing this LAB we got a knowledge to simulate the RLC circuit in the
MATLAB/Simulink environment and to observe the waveforms across the load voltage, power,
and current flow through the circuit.
