Step 1: open the Styles deck and select a style
Step 2: Click on the Fill Format Mode icon.
Step 3: To apply a paragraph, page or frame style, hover the mouse over the
paragraph, page or frame and click.
To apply a character style, hold down the mouse button while selecting the
characters. Clicking on a word applies the character style to that word.
Step 4: Repeat step3 until you have made all the changes for that style.
Step 5: To quit fill Format Mode, click on the Fill format icon again or press
the Esc key.

Q9. How to create a new style from a selection in LibreOffice Documentation?


Step 1: Change the formatting of the object (paragraph, frame and so on).
Step 2: From the icons at the top of the window, choose the category of style
to create (Paragraph style and so on)
Step 3: In the document, select the item to save as a style
Step 4: Go back to the Styles deck and click on the New style from Selection
icon. Select New style from the menu. The Create Style dialog open.
Step 5: Type a name for the new style. The list shows the names of existing
custom styles of the selected type, if any. Click on OK to save the new style
This new style applies only to this document; it will not be saved in the
template.

Step 1: Create a new paragraph or select an existing paragraph and edit all the
properties (indentation, alignment, font properties and others) you want to alter
in the style
Step 2: Select the paragraph by clicking anywhere in the paragraph.
Step 3: In the Styles deck, select the style you want to update and then click on
the New Style from selection icon and select Update Style.

Load Styles under the New Style from selection icon is used to copy styles into
the current document by loading them from a template or another document.
Step 1: Open the document to copy styles into.
Step 2: In the Styles deck, click on the New Style from selection icon and then
on Load Styles.
Step 3: in the Load Styles dialog, find and select the template or document to
copy styles from. Click on the From File button if the styles you want are
contained in a text document rather than a template. In this case, a standard
file selection dialog opens up, where you can select the desired document.
Step 4: Select the options for the types of styles to be copied: Text (Paragraph
and character styles), Frame, Pages, Numbering (List styles). If you select
overwrite, the styles being copied will replace any styles of the same names in
the target document.
Step 5: Click on OK to copy the styles.

Q13. How to create a style using drag and drop?


Step 1: Open the styles deck.
Step 2: select the style category (for eg a character style) using one of the icons near
the top of the deck.
Step 3: Select the object on which you want to base the style and drag it to the Styles
deck. The cursor changes to indicate whether the operation is possible.
Step 4: In the Create Style dialog, type a name for the new style and click on OK to
save the style.

Q14. How can you apply style in Writer?


It is possible to assign keyboard shortcuts for the styles. By selecting the text and
hitting the keys will paint the style on the text.
Step 1: Open the Tools Customize option from an OpenWriter document. The
Customize dialog box appears.
Step 2: Choose whether to have the shortcut key assignment available to all the
components of LibreOffice or only in Writer
Step 3: Select the desired shortcut key in the Shortcut Keys list at the top of the page.
Step 4: Select the required function from the Category and Function lists.
Step 5: Click the Modify button. The selection now appears in the Keys list on the
lower right.
Step 6: Click on OK to accept the change.
Repeat as required.
