Emotions Memory Game
Target a variety of skills in your next therapy or home-practice session
with this Emotions Memory Game! Memory games assist the development
of skills including working memory, sorting, visual attention, planning, and
organization. In this game, clients are also encouraged to identify emotions
throughout the game, incorporating a social and emotional learning
component. This activity is fun, low-prep, and easy to use.

Emotions Memory Game
What’s Included?
16 pairs of cards with the following emotions:
- Happy - Nervous - Laughing - Sick
- Sad - Angry - Crying - Silly
- Excited - Sleepy - Disgusted - Scared
- Confused - Fatigued - In love - Surprised
How to Prepare
1. Use heavy card stock or laminate for long-term use.
2. Print using the following guidelines:
• Pages: 3-8
• Sizing: Actual size
• Copies: 2
• Double-sided: flip on the long edge
3. Following the easy cut lines, cut into individual cards.
how to use
1. Place all 32 cards face down and align in a 5 by 6 grid on the floor or on a
table. Adjust to meet your client or child’s skill level by using fewer pairs of
cards if needed.
2. Taking turns, flip over any two cards. If they match, leave them face up.
If they do not match, flip them back over.
3. Keep playing until you have identified all of the matches. The person with the
most matches wins the game!
4. To upgrade this activity, tell your client or child to label the emotion after
making a match by asking, “How do they feel?”. Then, have them act out the
emotion and/or tell you about a time when they felt the emotion themselves.
