A new Concept
We will need...
-3.5 mm hook
-Mercerized cotton yarn
I use SINFONÍA Omega. It is 100% made with mercerized cotton and due to its sport
weight and variety of colors, works beautifully for making all kind of summer clothing. It is
very smooth and tightly spun. 3.52 oz. = 232 yds.
If you want to use a different brand just make sure it´s a mercerized cotton yarn for summer
clothes.

-Scissors

Chain: ch
single crochet: sc
half double crochet: hdc
slip-stitch: sl-st
increase: inc
decrease: dec
loop: lp
Turn over: TO
Skip: sk
treble or triple crochet: trc
We start making ch17.
R1: Skip the last chain we made and start making sc. Make
a total of 15sc and in the last chain that we still have to
finish our row make 1inc (make 2sc in the same stitch).
Total 17sc. Ch1 and TO.

R2: Skip the last ch we made in the previous row. We are

always going to do this at the beginning of every row. We
start making stitches in the stitch right after the chainthat we
made in the previous row. From now on I will say skip ch1.
Start making 1inc taking only the outside loop of the stitch (
the farest loop from your side). Then make 16 sc taking only
the outside loop. Total 18sc.Ch1 and TO.
PLEASE NOTE THAN FROM NOW ON, WE WILL BE
MAKING SC TAKING ONLY THE OUTSIDE LOOP OF
THE STITCH.

take only this loop

R3:Skip ch1 and make 16sc, then 1inc. Ch1 and TO. Total
18sc.
You will be wondering why if you have made 1 increase
you still have the same stitches than in previous row. I
explain: after the increase, if you check, there is still one
more stitch but we don´t work on that last stitch of the
row. That way we give the rounded shape to the seashell.
This will be happening every 2 rows ( the rows that go
from bottom to the top, we don´t work the last stitch). Just
follow the number of stitches that I say.

R4: skip ch1 and make 1inc in the first stitch, then make 17sc.
Total 19sc Ch1 and TO.
R5: skip ch1 and make 17sc, 1inc. Total 19sc. ch1 and TO.
R6: Skip ch1,1inc,18sc. Total 20sc. Ch1 and TO.
R7: skip ch1, 18sc,1inc Total 20sc. Ch1 and TO.
R8: skip ch1, 1inc,19sc. Total 21sc. Ch1 and TO.
R9: skip ch1, 19sc,1inc. Total 21sc. Ch1 anD TO.
R10: skip ch1, 1inc, 20sc. Total 22sc. Ch1 and TO.
R11: skip ch1,20sc,1inc. Total 22sc. Ch1 and TO
R12: skip ch1, 1inc, 21sc. Total 23c. Ch1 and TO.
R13: skip ch1, 21sc, 1inc. Total 23sc. Ch1 and TO.
R14: skip ch1, 1inc, 22sc. Total 24sc. Ch1 at TO.

this is how our work

should be looking like
FROM NOW ON WE WILL BE DECREASING THE
SEASHELL
To reduce the seashell we are NOT going to use
decrease stitches, we will make it easier by just skiping
the last stitch when we go up. You don´t have to worry
about when you should skip the stitch, I will tell you row
by row the exact number of stitches that you have to
make.

R15: Skip ch1 and make 22sc, ch1 and TO. (WE SKIP THE
LAST 2 STITCHES IN THIS ROW ONLY)
R16: Skip ch1 and make 22sc. Ch1 and TO.
R17: Skip ch1 and make 21sc. Ch1 and TO.
R18: Skip ch1 and make 21sc. Ch1 and TO.
R19: Skip ch1 and make 20sc. Ch1 and TO.
R20: Skip ch1 and make 20sc. Ch1 and TO.
R21: Skip ch1 and make 19sc. Ch1 and TO.
R22: Skip ch1and make 19sc. Ch1 and TO.
R23: Skip ch1 and make 18sc. Ch1 and TO.
R24: Skip ch1 and make 18sc. Ch1 and TO.
R25: Skip ch1 and make 17sc. Ch1 and TO.
R26: Skip ch1 and make 17sc. Ch1 .
NOW WE TURN OUR WORK TO CONTINUE WORKING
THROUGH THE BASE OF THE SEASHELL. AS YOU CAN
SEE IN THE PICTURE THERE ARE HOLES BETWEEN
ROWS. TOTAL OF 13 HOLES. WE ARE GOING TO BE
WORKING THROUGH THEM.

see here a clear pic of the

holes

R27: We are going to make decreases.Make 1sc from 2

stitches or 2 holes in this case. To make a decrease we will
insert the hook through the 1st hole we see, yarn over and pull
up. Now we have 2 loops in the hook. Again insert the hook in
the following hole, yarn over and pull the hook through again.
Now we have 3 loops in the hook (picture 1). Yarn over and
pass it to all the 3 loops (picture 2). This is a sc decrease.

Repeat 5 more decreases. At the end you ill have 1 more

hole. Just make 1sc. Ch 2 and TO.
R28: we are going to yarn over in every stitch from previous row
and we are young to pull the hook through all the loops. Total of
8 loops. Ch1 to secure the stitch

R29:ch3 and make 8trc in the circle formed by the row 28.
You can make 8dc instead of trc if you prefer. Then make
ch3 and sl-st to the circle. Cut off the yarn
We´ve pretty much finished our seashell.
The next step will be the final touch.
Choose the color that you like to make the
borders of your seashell.
Attach the new yarn to the circle formed at the bottom of the
seashell and make 1ch.
Start making sc in every stitch all the way up.
Just take the inside loop of the stitch instead
of taking the whole stitch (It is not necessary
but it will look better and thicker)

1 sl-st 1sc
in lower stitch 1inc
When we reach the top of the seashell
1sc
we will have to make some stitches in
every vertical row in order to make it
looks more rounded.

I do as it follows: 1sc, 1inc, 1sc, 1sl-st in

al lower stitch. I repeat this step in every
vertical end.
I just explained the way I do the borders, but you don´t have to
follow as It is, you just have to do it acording to your stitches and
the holes you have between them.
Then, just continue making sc until you
finish the seashell.

STRINGS
There are many diferent ways to make the strings, but I am
going to show you the way I usually do it.
For the bottom of the seashell I make a strip of aprox. 49 inch
(125cms). Once it´s made, it pass it through the holes of the
seashell bottom.

In the center of the top I attach the

yarn to the inside corner of the
seashell and I make a small strip of
10inch (25cms) in both seashells so I
can tie them together.
To tie the top to the back and adjust it, I attach the yarn to the
top center of the seashell and I make a long strip of 38inch
(100cms). Once I´ve made it, I pass it through the oposite
seashell external corner. I make the same with the other
seashell.

Now put your seashell top on, get a Piña

Colada and enjoy the summer sun!
MAKE IT BIGGER
TO MAKE THE TOP LARGER, AT THE BEGINNING ADD
MORE CHAINS TO THE 17CH FIRST ROW, THE CHAINS
THAT YOU ADD, YOU WILL HAVE TO COUNT THEM IN
EVERY ROW AS EXTRA STITCHES.
For example:
Instead of ch17 at the beginning, lets say you want it
bigger and you ch19:
R1: skip ch1 and make 17sc (instead of 15) and in the
following stitch make 1inc ( 2sc in the same stitch). Total
19sc (instead of 17). Ch1 and TO
R2: Skip the last ch we made in the previous row. We are
always going to do this at the beginning of every row. We
start making stitches in the stitch right after the chain that we
made in the previous row. From now on I will say skip ch1.
Start making 1inc taking only the outside loop of the stitch (
the farest loop from your side). Then make 18 sc taking
only the outside loop ( instead of 16). Total 20sc 8(
instead of 18).Ch1 and TO.
Continue like this until the end ( just adding the number of
extra chains that you made in the beginning to the number
of sc that I indicate in the tutorial.
Do not hesitate to contac if you have any question regarding
the pattern.

STUDIO
WASH INSTRUCTIONS AND CARE
Cotton yarn and wool are strong and flexible materials, but
they require specific care to keep their softness and
appearance.
Hand wash at a maximum temperature of 30° with a chlorine-free
detergent. Very important: never leave your garments soaking!
Gently rub, rinse several times in lukewarm water and then in cold
water.

To dry your yarn garments: wring them out without twisting them
and let them dry horizontally on a flat surface. This way we will
prevent the clothes from being deformed by the weight of the wool
or wet thread.

When ironing it is important that the iron is not too hot. Use a
thin scarf to avoid direct contact of the iron with the wool. In this
way, you avoid marks and shine on the fabric.
