CHAPTER 4 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
A research methodology is an approach to systematically take care of the examination issue. It might be
comprehended as a learn about concentrating on how lookup is done deductively. In it, we study the one-of-a-
kind advances that are frequently obtained through a professional in deliberating his examination issue
alongside the intent behind them. The scientist needs to be aware of the exploration strategies/systems yet,
besides, the technique.
4.1 Problem Statement:
In current scenario, it is difficult to find qualified employees for the organization. Searching, recruiting,
and selecting the candidate to fill the vacant position in the firm is a time-consuming as well as cost-
incurring process.
In spite of training process, if the candidate does not excel in the field, it is a big loss for the company as
well as for the candidate in terms of time. Hence, it is difficult to find a talented and qualified employee
with this labour market.
The competition is very tight as there are only few, who does justice for their roles. This makes
organization to conduct the R & S process very effectively, so that it results in improving the efficiency
of the company and also to retain the talents in the firm.
This study is based on the key problem faced by the HR department of an organization in regards to
satisfy the level of expectation from the employees in recruitment and selection methods.
Gender-wise interests in a job by the survey of recruitment and selection process.
4.2 Research Design:
A research design is a specification of methods and procedures for acquiring the information related to
the survey. It is a blueprint that is followed in completing a study.
A research design is purely and simply the framework or plan for a study that guides the collection and
analysis of data.
Research-Design is a process in which information is collected and analysed, so as to provide solutions
for the problem.
It is a method used to find solutions for questions asked in research.
There are 4-types of Research Design, namely:
Descriptive Research Methodology,
Correlational Research Methodology
Experimental Research Methodology
Causal- Comparative Research Methodology.
Currently, we are using descriptive research methodology for this study.
DESCRIPTIVE RESEARCH DESIGN
Descriptive research design is called explanatory design.
This describes the demographic characteristics of employers who are attending training programs.
Descriptive studies are undertaken in many circumstances.
When the researcher is interested in knowing the characteristics of certain groups such as age,
occupation, experience, etc, a descriptive study is necessary.
Hence, we have chosen a descriptive research method for the study.
The type of research is descriptive; since an attempt was made to find out the interrelationship between
variables.
4.3 Sources of Data:
Primary as well as secondary sources are used for the collection of data. In primary source of data
collection questionnaires and e and observation surveys are used, and in secondary sources of data
collection, relevant records, books, and magazines are used.
Thus, the sources of data collection are as follows:
Primary Data:
Primary data are generated by a study specifically designed to accommodate the needs of the problem at
hand. The methods used were direct surveys from the Employees.
Data was collected by the researcher herself for a specific purpose. In this study, the data is collected by
circulating a questionnaire to the respondents. A structured questionnaire was prepared using close-ended
questions with various scaling techniques.
Secondary Data:
Secondary data are those, which are not collected specifically for solving the problem currently being
investigated. Here secondary data were collected from the records available in the company and through
the Internet.
The data is also collected through:
Books
Journals
Academic Reports
Websites
In this topic, we use Primary Data through Questionnaire. Primary data was collected from the self-
designed Questionnaire that was filled by employees of the company using Google Forms.
4.4 Data Collection Method:
The primary data collection method was the questionnaire method, circulated to the sample undertaken,
and the information was collected with its help.
Also, a general discussion with the employees helped to gain information regarding the study.
The secondary source used to collect data was the company’s policy manual which contains the policy
related to the topic.
QUESTIONNAIRE DESIGN
The investigator formulated and designed the questionnaire with the personnel department's help under
the study's objectives.
A structured questionnaire to collect the requisite information was prepared.
Open-ended dichotomous questionnaire, multiple-choice questionnaire, checklist (respondents having
a series of answers from which they choose), etc.
4.5 Sampling Method:
Sampling-Techniques is the process by which the sample for the research or study is selected.
This helps in selecting a group for the survey, as it is difficult to survey the entire world’s population.
Various types of sampling techniques are there and they are mentioned below:
1. Simple Random Sampling-Techniques,
2. Systematic Sampling-Techniques,
3. Clustered Sampling-Techniques,
4. Quote Sampling-Techniques,
5. Convenience Sampling-Techniques
6. Snowball Sampling Techniques.
7. Stratified Sampling Techniques
8. Purposive Sampling-Techniques.
The study was conducted by probability random sampling method.
A sampling technique in which a sample is selected based on convenience and case.
The questionnaire was administered for a field survey in a company with a sample size of 20.
4.6 Sampling Frame:
The sampling frame of the research was the current employees and new candidates who arrived for
vacancies in the “Aryan Crop Protection Private Limited”.
4.7 Sampling Size:
Sample Size is several respondents or people selected from a population to collect data/samples for
computing in the research.
The sample undertaken to conduct the research study consist of twenty people which is approximately
half of the total strength working in the organization.
The sampling size undertaken for this research is 20 employees of “Aryan Crop Protection Private
Limited”.
The sample covered the employees from all the cadres, encompassing the senior officers to the workers.
The sample was collected from all the departments of the organization.
The sampling size undertaken for this study is 20, and the entire population size of the hotel is 50
employees.
4.8 Sampling Area:
Sampling area is a sampling technique in which total population area under investigation is divided in
small sub group, which are sampled at random.
Sampling area of the “Aryan Crop Protection Private Limited”. is limited and only 20 respondents.
The total no. of employees of the company was 50 including on-field and off-field.
4.9 Data Collection Instrument:
Data collection instruments are research tools or means through which the research is carried out, for
example, Surveys, Questionnaires, etc
Survey on employee’s experience during recruitment & selection in company through Google form.
A structured questionnaire is used here as the instrument to collect the data, both open-ended and
closed-ended questions were used to possible.
