Date of Issue: 29.8.2024 Assignment -1(b) 3rd sem-EE/ECE

1. The linear oriented graph is given as in Fig-1. Considering a tree, mark all the fundamental
cut sets and form the cutest matrix.

2. Write a short note on the properties of a tree in the study of network topology with valid
example for the explanation of each property.

3. Branch current and loop current relations are expressed in matrix form as below:

Draw the oriented graph.

4. Write the loop equations in matrix form for the given network in Fig.2.

5. For the network shown in fig.3, draw the graph. Write the cut set equilibrium equations for
the graph.

7. Draw the graph of a network shown in fig.4 and find the branch currents using tie set
schedule.

8. Define the following terms (a) Graph (b) Tree (c) Incidence Matrix (d) Tie set Matrix (d) Cut set
matrix

9. Write the equilibrium equation for the network shown (Fig. 5) in terms of tie set matrix.

10. Choose a tree of the graph of the network as shown in fig. 6. Find the tie set matrix and the
cut set matrix.

11. For the network shown in Fig.7, draw the oriented graph and obtain the tie set matrix. Also
use this matrix to calculate the current I flowing in 3Ω resistor.

12. For the network shown in Fig.8, write the f-cut set matrix and hence obtain the equilibrium
equations on node basis. Choose AC and BC as twigs.
