For Current Students (Inside Canada)
How to apply for Study Permit Extension online through Immigration, Refugees, and
Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) website.
This is intended only for current students at Conestoga College who extend study
permit from within Canada.

IRCC Temporary Policies
Immigration Medical Exams (IME):
You are exempted from submitting an IME as part of the application (effective from Oct.
5, 2022 to Oct. 6, 2024) if you:
• have a new or pending application for either temporary residence (e.g. study permit,
work permit, visitor status) or permanent residence, made from within Canada
• completed an IME on or after October 6, 2017 and posed no risk to public health or
safety, or reported to public health authorities for monitoring, as required.

How To Prepare Your Documents:
• The Letter of Enrollment/Acceptance
o If you are currently enrolled, there are two ways to get the Enrollment Letter:
1. If you are registered full time, please download the letter from Student Portal – Services - Print a
letter – “Currently Enrolled Letter”;
2. If you are registered part-time (or the Enrollment Letter on Student Portal is not accurate),
please contact International Student Advisors about how to request for a customized enrolment
letter.
o If your program has not started, please use the Letter of Acceptance downloaded from the OCAS
• The Co-op/Placement Letter
o If you are currently enrolled, there are two ways to get the co-op/placement letter:
1. If you are registered full time, please download the letter from Student Portal – Services- Print a
letter – “Co-op Letter”,"Optional Co-op letter" or “Placement Letter”;
2. If you are registered part-time (or the co-op/placement letter on Student Portal is not accurate),
please contact International Student Advisors about how to request for a customized co-
op/placement letter.
o If your program has not started, please use Page 3 of the Letter of Acceptance.

How To Prepare Your Documents:
• Proof of Means of Financial Support
o This document will normally consist of many pages. Please create a PDF with a cover
letter listing/explaining the documents you are providing.
o You must provide documentation to prove how you will be paying for your tuition and
your cost of living for at least one-year into the future or until the end of your studies –
whichever is sooner.
o Examples of financial documents can include:
The receipts for tuition payment for the current and/or future semester;
Your bank statements and transaction history from the last four months;
A family member’s or a friend’s bank statements showing funds available accompanied
by a letter from that person stating they are supporting your studies in Canada.
Contact information must be included. (see the letter template in Appendix);
Proof of income such as pay stubs or a letter of employment. You can provide this if
you are working part-time during your studies. You can also have your family
members provide similar documentation as mentioned in the point above.
o When you reach the Document Checklist in your application, please click the beside
the document for more details.

How To Prepare Your Documents:
• Passport. Please include:
o The page with the passport number, photo, dates of issues and expiry, name and date of
birth, and
o All pages with stamps, visas or markings, and
o A scanned copy of your valid Study Permit.
o Make sure the scanned copy is clear and legible. All pages of the passport must be merged
into a single PDF document, which cannot be more than 4 MB.
• Digital Photo
o The digital photo should look similar to a passport photo.
o Once you reach the Document Checklist section of the online application, please click
beside each required document for more information.

with other Canadian government institutions such as, but not limited to, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the Canadian Security

order to prevent, investigate or prosecute an offence under any law of Canada or a province. This information may also be used to establish or verify the identity of an individual whose identity
cannot reasonably be otherwise established or verified because of physical or mental condition. Canada may also share immigration information related to biometric records with foreign
governments with whom Canada has an agreement or arrangement.
Depending on the type of application made, the information you provided will be stored in one or more Personal Information Banks (PIB) pursuant to section 10(1) of Canada's Privacy Act.
Individuals also have a right to protection and access to their personal information stored in each corresponding PIB under the Access to Information Act. Further details on the PIBs pertaining to
