SAMPLE PROBLEM STATEMENT

The community of Greenview Heights is grappling with a pressing issue of waste

management, exacerbated by inadequate infrastructure and a lack of awareness about
sustainable practices. Field visits conducted throughout the neighborhood revealed
overflowing trash bins, litter strewn across public spaces, and improper disposal of
hazardous materials, posing significant environmental and health hazards. Surveys
conducted among residents highlighted a general lack of understanding about proper
waste disposal techniques and a desire for improved waste management services.
Additionally, user stories collected from community members underscored the
frustration and concern regarding the proliferation of waste and its impact on the
overall livability of the neighborhood. The target audience for the proposed solution
includes residents, local businesses, and community organizations, all of whom are
directly affected by the prevailing waste management challenges. It is estimated that
approximately 5,000 residents and numerous businesses will benefit from the
implementation of an effective waste management solution. Geotagged photos
depicting overflowing trash bins, littered streets, and polluted waterways, along with
infographs illustrating statistics on waste generation and recycling rates, further
substantiate the urgent need for intervention in addressing this community-wide issue.
