Introduction to Volumetric display
A volumetric display is a type of display device that
creates a visual representation of an object in three
physical dimensions.
This technology differs from traditional 2D screens
as it enables users to view images from multiple
angles in space.
Volumetric displays are advanced visualization
systems that create three-dimensional images by
displaying light at various points in space and
create true 3D representation of objects.
Volumetric displays enhance user interaction by
allowing users to engage with three-dimensional
visuals in a more natural way than traditional 2D
displays.
Above images are best example of volumetric display
in that image we can see all angles of object and also
actual volume of image.

Type of volumetric display
Swept-Volume Displays
Use spinning panels of LEDs to create
images.
Static Volume Displays
Use materials like solid glass or clouds
particles to create images.
Projector Arrays
Use multiple projectors to build images
inside a transparent medium.
Demand
The huge demand for volumetric display from
various department such as defence, education,
healthcare, aerospace, and others.
North America dominated the global volumetric
display market in 2023-2024 with over 35% of the
total shares.
Applications
Medical : Volumetric displays can provide detailed
3D visualizations of anatomical structures, surgical
planning, and education.
Education : These displays can enhance learning
experiences by providing interactive 3D models for
subjects like biology, chemistry, and engineering.
Entertainment and Gaming : Volumetric displays
can create immersive gaming experiences and
interactive entertainment, allowing users to
interact with 3D content in real-time.
Advertising : They can be used for eye-catching
advertisements and product displays that attract
attention with their 3D visuals.
Simulation and Training : Volumetric displays can
be used for realistic training simulations, providing
a more effective learning environment.
Virtual assistant visualizations : Volumetric
displays can be used for realistic Virtual assistant
like jarvis
Limitation
Resolution and Color : In current volumetric
displays as lack of resolution and color. This is
because they use volumetric pixels instead of pixels
which can result in less detailed images.
Expensive : In current condition volumetric
displays is expensive. This is because they use
advance expensive devices and technology.
Complexity : Volumetric displays is complex to use
and understand because in volumetric display use
various kind of functions.
Portability : Many volumetric displays are large and
not easily portable this limits their use.
Content Creation : Creating content for volumetric
displays is more challenging than traditional displays
.The content must be designed in three dimensions,
which requires more advance tools and techniques.
Future scope
Resolution and Color : Current volumetric displays
has low resolution and color fidelity so they need to
be improve.
Durability and Maintenance : Improving the
durability of volumetric displays and reducing the
need for frequent maintenance can enhance their
reliability and usability.
Cost and Accessibility : The technology behind
volumetric displays can be expensive, limiting its
accessibility. Reducing production costs and
making the technology more affordable.
Conclusion
This seminar successfully achieved its objectives by
thoroughly investigating the principles and
applications of volumetric displays.
They are useful in many areas like medicine,
science, and entertainment, making visualisation
experiences more immersive and interactive.
However, they are still expensive, hard to make,
and have some issues with resolution and color.
More research is needed to solve these problems
and make them more common and practical.
