This graph shows the proportion of four different materials that were
recycled from 1982 to 2010 in a particular country.
The lines in the table represent the recycling rate of four materials: Paper and
cardboard, glass container, aluminum can, and plastic in a span of 24 years from
1982 to 2010.
Overall, the line graph shows, that during the period shown, some materials were
recycled less over time while some experienced increases in the reuse rate.
Looking at paper and cardboard from 1982 to 1986, we can see the recycling rate
fluctuate slightly between 60% to 70%. The statistic then went up to 80% from
60% over the next 4 years and experienced a gradual fall for the rest of the period.
Conversely, while only 50% of glass containers are recycled in 1982 and had a
slight dip of 10% for the next 8 years, from 1990 onward, this rate began to make a
slow climb and reached 60% in the end.
Unlike the first 2 materials, aluminum cans and plastic only have an upward trend
throughout the observed period. More specifically, the percentage of recycled
aluminum cans saw a whopping 45% increase while plastic rise slowly from nearly
2% to almost 5 times the amount.
