King George III

YARN - Medium #4 weight: tan, red, yellow, white & gray

Super bulky #6 weight blanket yarn: white & black

STITCHES: sc (single crochet), inc (increase 2 sc in the same hole), blo (back loop only), dec (invisible decrease), sl
st/sl st join (slip stitch/slip stitch join), dc/dc inc (double crochet/2 double crochet in the same hole), ch (chain)

Note: when crocheting with fluffy blanket yarn, using a smaller hook may help your stitches be more comparable in
size (I used the standard Woobles 4 mm hook even when working with the chunky blanket yarn). At times (e.g. black
detail around the crown) utilizing a smaller hook to weave the yarn in and out may be easier than using a large
tapestry needle.
HEAD & BODY
(Yarn: tan & red, medium #4 weight)
Round 1: (tan yarn) 6 sc magic loop (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: [sc, inc] x 6 (18)
Round 4: [2 sc, inc] x 6 (24)
Round 5: 24 sc (24)
Round 6: [5 sc, inc] x 4 (28)
Rounds 7-9: 28 sc (28)
Round 10: [6 sc, inc] x 4 (32)
Round 11: (color change to red yarn) 32 sc (32)
Rounds 12-17: 32 sc (32)
Round 18: 32 sc blo (32)
Round 19: [2 sc, dec] x 8 (24)
Round 20: [sc, dec] x 8 (16)

Attach the safety eyes* between rounds 6 & 7 with a 3-stitch space between them.
Stuff the piece.
*I used clear 10 mm eyes from Amazon:

Round 21: 8 dec (8)

Invisible fasten off leaving a long tail.** Thread a needle with the tail; then use it to pull the yarn tail through the front
loops of each stitch. Pull tight to close.

**STOP – don’t yet go beyond this step of the body if you want to add magnets to make your king a shoulder plush
(optional, see page 7 for more details). If you choose to stop here, leave the piece open but finish everything else
beyond page 1 then return to this point when you’ve inserted your magnets and are ready to finish off the piece.
Tip: If you’re having difficulties closing your piece because of the magnets you may need to finish/close the
body off with a plastic tapestry needle

If you are NOT adding magnets, close your piece (above) and add on the final row (below) before you go on to the next
pages.

BOTTOM OF THE BODY (an extra row, like a hem, to nicely finish off his regal red outfit)
(Yarn: red, medium #4 weight)
Step 1: with a new piece of yarn - sl st join into the first remaining front loop of round 18 (1)
Step 2: sc into each remaining front loop of round 18 (31)
Invisible fasten off then hide the tails in the body.

*Inspiration: Woobles “human” bodies (e.g. Voldemort)

1
ARMS (make two)
(Yarn: tan & red, medium #4 weight)
Round 1: (tan yarn) 6 sc magic loop (6)
Round 2: [2 sc, inc] x 2 (8)
Round 3: (color change to red yarn) 8 sc (8)
Rounds 4-5: 8 sc (8)
Invisible fasten off and leave a long tail to attach the arms to either side of the
body after the arm details are complete.

WHITE ARM DETAILING (CUFF)

(Yarn: white, medium #4 weight)
Row 1: ch 10 (10)
Row 2: starting in the second ch from the hook: [dc inc, 3 dc] x2, dc inc (12)
Invisible fasten off and use the tail to sew the cuff to the arm above the tan/hand. Hide the tails in the arm.

YELLOW ARM DETAILING

(Yarn: yellow, medium #4 weight)
Step 1: sl st join into a stitch on the back of the arm above the white cuff (1)
Step 2: sl st into the next 7 stitches around the arm (7)
Invisible fasten off to the first slip stitch, then hide the tails in the arm.

Using the long red tail from each arm to sew one arm to either side of the body, the top of each arm should be
flattened and attached between rounds 11 & 12. When the arms are sewn on, hide the tails in the body.

BODY DETAILS
BELT
(Yarn: white, medium #4 weight)
Step 1: sl st join into a stitch between rounds 16 & 17 on the back of the body (1)
Step 2: sl st into the next 31 stitches around the body (31)
Invisible fasten off to the first slip stitch, then hide the tails in the body.
*Note: this part is done most easily by holding the piece upside down
and stitching around the piece clockwise

FRONT RUFFLE WITH BUTTONS

(Yarn: yellow, medium #4 weight)
Row 1: ch 7 (7)
Row 2: starting in the second ch from the hook, 6 sc (6)
Fasten off with a long tail and use the tail to sew the ruffle to the front middle of the body with the top row of the
ruffle aligning with the color change round of the body.

BUTTONS
(Yarn: red, medium #4 weight)
Embroider buttons onto the yellow ruffle by using a long single piece of red yarn. Using a needle, pull the yarn from the
side of the body up to where you want the bottom button to go and tie a knot as close to the body/ruffle as possible,
then do a second knot over the first (this double knot will serve as the first button), then insert the needle into the
body and pull it up to where you want the second button to go, put two knots/a double knot into that stitch, then
insert the needle back into the body and pull it up where you want the third button to go. Continue on repeating this
process until you’re happy with the row of buttons. Take the remaining yarn tail and use the needle to insert it into the
body pulling it out of the same stitch as the starting yarn tail, knot the two tails together and hide them in the body.

2
HAIR CAP (FLAT BASE PIECE)
(Yarn: gray, medium #4 weight)
Round 1: 6 sc magic loop (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: [sc, inc] x 6 (18)
Round 4: [2 sc, inc] x 6 (24)
Round 5: 24 dc (24)
Continue on (switching from even rounds to uneven rows)…
Step 1: 10 dc, ch 1 and turn
Step 2: dc inc into the second st from the hook
Step 3: 8 dc, dc inc Hair cap/base

Invisible fasten off and use the tail to sew the piece flat onto the head. The longer side of the hair should be centered
on the back of the body, the top straight edge of the hair piece should fall between rounds 4 & 5.

HAIR CURLS (make four)

(Yarn: gray, medium #4 weight)
Row 1: ch 8 (8)
Row 2: starting in the second ch from the hook, 7 sc, ch 1 and turn (7)
Rows 3-10: 7 sc, ch 1 and turn (7)
Row 11: 7 sc
Fasten off with a long tail. Roll each flat rectangular piece into a single curl. Use the yarn tail on each piece to both sew
through the layers to secure the curl and to attach it to the side of the head. There should be two curls on each side
and the front of the curls should be placed slightly in front of the sides of the base hair piece (bottom curls each 3
stitches in front of the sides of the base hair piece, top curls directly above and aligned with the bottom curls).
Tip 1: make sure you have enough room between the top two curls for your crown, you may want to
complete your crown before sewing on the curls to use it as a reference for spacing
Tip 2: sewing the bottom curls on before the top curls make sewing the sets easier

MOUTH & EYEBROWS

(Yarn: black, medium #4 weight)
MOUTH: Thread a needle and embroider a maniacal looking smile between the eyes, spanning round 8. Knot the yarn
tails together and hide in the body.

EYEBROWS: Thread a needle and embroider two expressive eyebrows, one above each eye. Knot the yarn tails together
and hide in the body.

3
CROWN
INNER PORTION
(Yarn: red & yellow, medium #4 weight)
Round 1: (red yarn) 6 sc magic loop (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: [sc, inc] x 6 (18)
Round 4: [inc, 2 sc] x 6 (24)
Round 5: [dec, 10 sc] x 2 (22)
Round 6: (color change to yellow yarn) 22 sc (22)
Invisible fasten off and leave a long tail that will later be used to attach the crown to his highness’s head.

CROWN DETAILS (WHITE CROWN BASE)

(Yarn: white, super bulky #6 weight)
Step 1: sl stitch join into the back of the crown (to the invisible fasten off stitch in yellow) (1)
Step 2: sl st into the next 21 stitches around the base of the crown (21)
*Note: crocheting the white fluff as a separate row instead of a color change after the yellow row allows the
white fluff to turn outward more so you can do the black details (below)

CROWN DETAILS (BLACK FLUFF DETAILS)

(Yarn: black, super bulky #6 weight)
Thread a large tapestry needle (or use your 4 mm hook) to weave black detail in and out at even intervals along the
white fluff base of the crown.

CROWN DETAILS (TOP ARCHES – make two)

(Yarn: yellow, medium #4 weight)
Row 1: ch 19 (19)
Row 2: starting in the second ch from the hook, 18 sc (18)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for stitching the arch to the crown.

CROWN DETAILS (CENTER ORB)

(Yarn: yellow, medium #4 weight)
Round 1: 3 sc magic loop (3)
Round 2: 3 inc (6)
Round 3: 3 dec (3)
Invisible fasten off leaving a long tail to mount on top of the crown where the arches intersect.

Pin your arches on to ensure you like the placement (they should be placed like a + on top of the crown) then sew each
end of the arches onto the crown between the bottom of the yellow row/top of the white round. Hide the yarn tails in
the inside of the crown.
*Note: wait to sew the middle portion of the arches until after the crown is sewn onto the head (see below)

Sew the crown onto the top of the head (on top of the base hair piece) using the long yellow tail from the crown.

After the crown is attached to the head, sew the orb on last using its long tail. The orb will also secure the arches to the
middle of the crown. Sew directly down and around a middle stitch of the head to make the center of the crown
indent.

CAPE
BOTTOM LAYER
(Yarn: red, medium #4 weight)
Row 1: ch 34 (34)
Rows 2-8: starting in the second ch from the hook, 33 sc, ch 1 and turn (33)
Row 9: 33 sc (33)
Fasten off and hide both yarn tails in the cape.
*Note: this portion of the cape is meant to be oversized (more details below on how to attach)

CAPE: BOTTOM LAYER DETAILS – YELLOW (make two)

(Yarn: yellow, medium #4 weight)

Row 1: ch 10 (10)
Row 2: starting in the second ch from the hook, 9 sc (9)
Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail. Use the long yarn tail to sew onto the
bottom (red) layer of the cape vertically ~3 stitches back from the edges with
one yellow piece on each side. Hide the yarn tail in the cape.

CAPE: BOTTOM LAYER DETAILS – WHITE (do twice)

(Yarn: white, super bulky #6 weight)
Step 1: sl st join to the vertical edge of the red bottom layer of the cape
Step 2: 8 sc along the edge of the cape to cover the length of the edge (8)
*Note: you may need to add some additional stitches or sew in some
additional white to get more coverage
Fasten off and hide the yarn tails under the white detailing.

Once the bottom layer (red) cape is complete – sew it onto the body between rounds 11 & 12 (on the same row and
right above his arms). This piece is meant to be oversized to allow it to hang straight. Sew this piece on loosely leaving
some excess material loose between stitches (see photos below).

CAPE
CAPE: TOP LAYER
(Yarn: white, super bulky #6 weight)
Row 1: ch 19 (19)
Row 2: starting with 2nd ch from hook, 18 sc, ch 2 and turn (18)
Row 3: [dc, dc inc ] x 9 (27)
Fasten off and hide the yarn tails in the cape.

CAPE: TOP LAYER - BACK COLLAR

(Yarn: white, super bulky #6 weight)
Row 1: ch 19 (19)
Row 2: starting with the 2nd ch from hook, 18 sc (18)
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing (hide the shorter yarn tail in the
cape). Use the long yarn tail to sew the collar to the cape.

Optional: black fluffy details on the top layer of the cape (Yarn: black, medium #4
weight) – take small pieces of yarn and knot them at random intervals along one
stitch of the cape (with the knots on the underneath part of the cape). Trim the
tails of each knot as close as possible to help them better blend with the rest of
the cape.

Sew the finished top layer (white) cape to the body between rounds 10 & 11
(above the red layer), sew along where the collar and the cape join.

When you’re completely done with your project – don’t forget to add some extra
royal details. A bow? Gems? A chain? Anything goes!

I’d like to take a second to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who liked, commented, and gave love to King George.
He’s my most detailed modification project yet so the kindness he has received has been SO appreciated.

Please note that this is my first time trying my hand at writing out a pattern. So, if you have any questions or concerns,
please feel free to reach out and I’d be happy to help! (I’m “Lauren Marie” on Facebook and you can find me in both
the “Crochet Amigurumi for Beginners by The Woobles” and “Woobles Modifications” groups).

If you want to show extra appreciation for King George or would like to help further fuel my yarn addiction, please
consider gifting a donation (@rennybabie on Venmo).

And of course – please share pictures of your completed kings when you’re done! I would love nothing more than to
see a fully armed battalion of crocheted King Georges ready to remind us of their love <3

OPTIONAL: TURNING YOUR KING INTO A SHOULDER PLUSH!

For this step I used magnets I bought off Amazon (link below).
Because he was pretty heavy, I used x4 magnets total.

I made x2 sets of x2 magnets each (I used one of the plastic dividers that
came between the magnets and the included 3M circle to secure the x2
magnets together).
The first set of x2 magnets I inserted into the body of the king (flat at
the very bottom below the stuffing with one facing his face and one facing
his royal rear) as the last step before I did the final front loop stitches to
close the piece. After I closed the piece up, I used the remaining yarn tail to
secure the magnets into the bottom of the piece (a couple of stitches over
the magnets secured to the bottom of the piece).
Tip: If you’re having difficulties closing your piece/securing the
magnets because the metal needle is trying to connect to the
magnets, you may need to finish/close the body off with a plastic tapestry needle
Then the second set of x2 magnets I inserted them under the strap of my dress.

My experience so far: King George accompanied me to a night out at the theater to see Hamilton. He successfully
stayed on my shoulder securely all evening (4 hours). He only needed a bit of extra support as I climbed the stairs (that
was the only time he got extra wobbly).

Let me know if you try this part out and how it works for you. This was my first time trying out this method and I was
pleased that it worked out pretty well!
(Also – if you do choose to do this step, don’t forget to go back to page 1 to close up your piece then complete the
bottom/last row of the body!)
