SECTION 1.0 INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
STEP 1:- LEVELING & BEDDING
Prepare formwork for grouting. Pour the grouting material provided by WPC (Work Package
Contractor)
STEP 2:- PLACE THE RUBBER BEARING
Place the Bearing Strip on the corbel. Ensure the position is correct. Make sure that the bearing strip
is seated at the correct level.

STEP 3:- DRILL & CLEAN
Drill a part of corbel to insert the dowel bar. Also, clean and remove all the dust from the holes.
STEP 4:- FILL ADHESIVE OR CHEMICAL
The adhesive or chemical required to fill in before insert the dowel bar for bonding.

STEP 5:- SLOT IN DOWEL BAR
Slot in the dowel bar through the bearing strip.
STEP 6:- LAUNCHING THE BEAM ON THE BEARING STRIP
Launch the beam gently directly above the Bearing Strip until full beam load is transferred to the
Bearing Strip. The installation of the Bearing Strip is now complete. Ensure that the top (beam) and
bottom (pier) is parallel and fully contact.

SECTION 2.0 INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
2.1 FIRST INSPECTION (AFTER INSTALATION)
The first inspection (after installation) shall be carried out after the installation of Rubber Bearing
Strip and must comprise of the following as stated below:-
1. Condition of bearing strip
2. Alignment of bearing strip
3. Deflection of bearing strip after load transfer
4. Condition of top and bottom structure
The result of this first inspection (after installation) shall be recorded in the Inspection Report Sheet
(Refer to Appendix A: Inspection Report Sheet). The condition of every bearings that has been
inspected shall be recorded under the following categories:-
Results and Action to be taken:-
N: No action needed
R: Minor repair works such as cleaning.
I: Repair or replacement required.
C: Further measurements and long term observations are required.

2.2 SUBSEQUENT ROUTINE INSPECTION
After carrying out the first inspection, the subsequent routine inspection shall be carried out on the
Rubber Bearing Strip as per the following time interval as stated below:-
1. By yearly inspection (if required)
2. Or as otherwise defined accordingly as per the findings of the previous inspection
The routine inspection must comprise of the following as stated below:-
1. Condition of bearing strip
2. Alignment of bearing strip
3. Deflection of bearing strip after load transfer
4. Condition of top and bottom structure
The result of this routine inspection shall be recorded in the Inspection Report Sheet (Refer to
Appendix A: Inspection Report Sheet). The condition of every bearings that has been inspected shall
be recorded under the following categories:-
Results and Action to be taken:-
N: No action needed
R: Minor repair works such as cleaning.
I: Repair or replacement required.
C: Further measurements and long term observations are required.
