ELSA
Anna, We need to go to bed

ANNA
I just can’t. The sky’s awake, so I’m awake, so we have to play.

ELSA
Go play by yourself.

ANNA
Are you sure you don’t want to build the snowman with me?

ELSA
Okay, let’s do it

ANNA
YES! Do the magic! Do the magic!

Elsa laughs and waves her hands together. Snowflakes suddenly burst forth and dance between
her palms, forming a snowball. Elsa throws the snowball high into the air. Snow bursts out and
flurries around the room. Anna dances about, catching flakes in her palms and mouth.
 ANNA
This is amazing!

ELSA
Watch this!

Elsa roll giant snowballs and build a snowman together. Elsa moves his stick arms around.

ELSA
Hi, I’m Olaf and I like warm hugs.

ANNA
I love you, Olaf.

Anna fearlessly jumps off a snow peak into mid air.

ANNA
Catch me!

ELSA

Gotcha!
ANNA
Again! Again!

ELSA
Slow down!

Elsa suddenly slips. Her magic accidentally STRIKES Anna in the head. Anna tumbles down a
snowbank and lands, unconscious.

ELSA
ANNA!

Elsa runs to Anna and takes her in her arms. A streak of Anna’s hair, where struck, turns white.

ELSA
MAMA! PAPA!

KING
Elsa, what have you done? This is getting out of hand!
 QUEEN
Anna! Wake up!

The King and Queen rush to Anna and take her in their arms.

ELSA
It was an accident. I’m sorry.

Anna starts to wake up

ANNA
Elsa?

ELSA
No! I don’t want to hurt you

Elsa runs away.

SCENE 2

ANNA
Today is Coronation day! I can’t wait to meet everyone after all these years.

The guests starts to come.

HANS
I’m so sorry. Are you hurt?

ANNA
Hey. I-ya, no. No. I’m okay

HANS
Are you sure?

ANNA
Yeah, I just wasn’t looking where I was going. But I’m okay.
 HANS (bowing)

ANNA (curtseying)

HANS
Princess...? My Lady.

He drops to his knees, head bowed.

HANS (about her white streak)

ANNA
I was born with it, although I dreamt I was kissed by a troll.

I was playing with Elsa that day. Elsa and I were really close when we were little. But then, one
day she just shut me out, and I never knew why

HANS

Okay, can I just say something crazy? HANS I love crazy.

The party is over. Close the gates

ANNA
What? Elsa, no. No, wait!

Anna grabs Elsa’s hand. She pulls off Elsa’s glove. Elsa gasps, spins around and reaches for the
glove in panic.

ELSA
Give me my glove!

Anna holds the glove away from Elsa.

ANNA
Elsa, please. Please. I can’t live like this anymore

ELSA
...Then leave.
 ANNA
What did I ever do to you?!

ELSA
Enough, Anna

ANNA
No. Why? Why do you shut me out?! Why do you shut the world out?! What are you so afraid
of?!

ELSA
I said, enough!

Ice shoots from Elsa’s hand, spikes across the floor! Guests cry out in shock, back away. Elsa
runs away.

HANS
She’s a monster!

ANNA
NO! my sister’s not a monster. I need to go after her

HANS
Anna, no. It’s too dangerous.

ANNA
Elsa’s not dangerous. I’ll bring her back here

She snaps the reins and rides out. Hans watches after her.

Elsa is alone in the north mountain, and she feels upset, and angry at the same time.

KRISTOFF
It’s completely frozen.

ANNA
...But it’ll be fine. Elsa will
thaw it. Now come on. This way to the North Mountain?

KRISTOFF
Will she?

Anna, Kristoff, and Sven walk beneath frozen willows. The hanging branches glisten like
Christmas lights. Sven knocks them with his antlers. They tinkle like chimes.

ANNA
I never knew winter could be so
beautiful.

Suddenly, a voice comes in from nowhere. We’ll call that voice OLAF.

OLAF
YEAH...It really is beautiful,
isn’t it? But it’s so white. You know, how about a little color? Must we bleach the joy out of it
all? I’m thinking like maybe some crimson, chartreuse…

OLAF
How ‘bout yellow--no, not yellow.
 Yellow and snow? Brrrr...no go.

He stops between Kristoff and Anna. They look down at him. How did he get there? He suddenly
looks up at Anna.

OLAF
Am I right?

ANNA, KRISTOFF
Aaaaaa….!!

OLAF
Hi!

KRISTOFF
You’re creepy.

OLAF
Woo! Head rush!

ANNA
Oh! Too hard. I’m sorry! I-I, I was
just.... Are you okay?

OLAF
Are you kidding me? I am wonderful!
All right, let’s start this thing over. Hi everyone. I’m Olaf. And I like warm hugs.
Olaf opens his arms wide to Anna. That triggers a memory. It takes her a moment to place it, but
then she does.

ANNA
Olaf?...That’s right, Olaf.

OLAF
...And you are?

ANNA
Oh, um...I’m Anna.

ANNA
 Olaf, did Elsa build you?

OLAF
Yeah. Why?

ANNA
Do you know where she is?

OLAF
Yeah. Why?

ANNA
Do you think you could show us the
way?

OLAF
Yeah. Why?

KRISTOFF
I’ll tell you why. We need Elsa to
bring back summer.

OLAF
(shocked)
Summer? Oh, I don’t know why but I’ve always loved the idea of summer, and sun, and all
things hot.

KRISTOFF
Really? I’m guessing you don’t have
much experience with heat.

OLAF
Nope. But sometimes I like to close
my eyes and imagine what it’d be like when summer does come.

Like his peculiar brain-dear, his thing with the reindeer
