V. Results and Discussion
• Discuss the results of the tables in the pre-lab report. No need to type again the tables. Just refer to the
table title when you are going to discuss the results.
o In the discussion of the results, make sure to discuss the trends in the data and the observations.
Relate the results with the theories involved.
o Discuss the purpose of the reagents and reaction conditions.
o Discuss the supposed or theoretical data and account for the differences in the experimental data
by stating the possible errors committed in the experiment.
o Discuss the recrystallization procedure and the observations. No need to discuss the mass of the
recrystallized product since we have not yet weighed the recrystallized product.
o For the melting point determination, discuss what should be the possible melting point of the product
and how the melting point was supposed to be determined.
o Discuss the results of the chemical tests. Compare the experimental results with the theoretical
results.
o Other tables may be provided on your perusal.
