How STEM Shapes Our Everyday Lives
Good morning, everyone!
Today, I want to talk about how STEM – Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics – impacts our everyday lives. You
might not think about it much, but we are surrounded by STEM every
day.
Take your smartphone, for example. The apps you use, the touch
screen, and even the camera all exist because of STEM. Engineers
design these devices, and computer scientists write the code that
makes them work. Every time you use GPS to find a location or send
a message to your friends, you’re using technology created by STEM.
Let’s talk about science. The food we eat, the medicine we take when
we’re sick, and even the clean water we drink are all possible
because of science. Scientists work hard to make sure our food is
safe and that we have access to health care. Without STEM, many
things we take for granted would not exist.
Even simple things like traffic lights or bridges are part of STEM.
Engineers design roads and bridges to keep us safe, and
mathematicians help solve the problems that keep our cities running
smoothly.
So, the next time you pick up your phone, watch a cool space
documentary, or walk across a bridge, remember that STEM is
behind it all. And who knows? Maybe one day, you’ll use STEM to
create something amazing, too!
Thank you!
