BUFFET TABLE LAYOUT

Buffet can be defined asa special type of meal which is made u with different
types of dishes from what guest take foods and then serves themselves
without the help of any waiter or server.

The foods are attractively arranged on the table and classified according to the
proper sequence required for a good set up . Usually , this arrangement ranges
from the appetizers to the desserts which are the final serving . The table also
contains dinner plates and saucers which are placed strategically to enable the
guests to pick them up quickly and move .

The table arrangement follows this order :

 Forks – Place the forks on the left side of the plate


 Dinner plate – This is placed on the table when serving the main course
of the meal . they are laid an inch from the edge of the table .
 Salad palet – it is placed further left to the forks about 2 inche sfrom the
edge of the table
 Spoons and knioves – are placed to the right of the dinner plate ,but
knife is placed next to the palte
 Bread plate and butter knife
 Glass ware
 Dessert spoon and fork .

Setting a Buffet Table


This set up is required for catering to large groups of people. Buffet table setting can
be done in numerous ways depending upon the size and shape of the place, the
menu, and the number of guests.

 The food items are placed in a sequence from lightest to heaviest, starters to
desserts, or coolest to warmest.
 Cutlery is placed on the guest tables.
 Glasses, cups, and saucers are placed on a separate table to avoid
congestion.
 Table decoration pieces are placed such that they do not interfere with the
food items.
 Plates are stacked not more than 15 plates per stack.
 Paper napkins are placed between the plates.
