MATHEMATICS PAPER-I/II/III

Maximum Marks: 100 Time: 3 Hours

Note: Attempt any one question from each unit. All question carries equal Marks. All questions carry equal

marks.

Q.1> (a)Use Newton's method to find a root of the equation:

x3 – 3x – 5 = 0

(b)Find a real root of the equation x3 – 9x + 1 = 0, by the method of false position.

Or

Solve by Gauss-elimination method:

10x + y + 2z = 13

3x + 10y + 2 = 14

2x + 3y + 10z = 15

Q.2> (a)Find the first three derivatives of the function tabulated, at the point x = 1.5:

x: 1.5 2.0 2.5 3.0 3.5 4.0

y f(x): 3.375 7.000 13.625 24.000 38.875 59.000

(b) Use Simpson's 1/3 rd rule to find ʃ00.6 e x2 dx by taking seven ordinates.

Use Picard's method to solve dy/dx= 1+ xy, with x0 = 2, y = 0.

Q.3> (a) What is data structure? Explain data structure operations with example.

(b) Define data structure. Explain linear and non-linear data structure with example.

Write down Binary Search Algorithm with example.

(b) What is sorting? Write down the procedure of insertion Sort with suitable example.
