MISIC
INTRODUCTION
Malin's Intelligence Scale for Indian Children (MISIC) is a test designed to measure the
intelligence of children in India, keeping in mind the country's cultural and language
differences.
It includes verbal tests, like vocabulary, arithmetic, and comprehension, to assess a child's
understanding of words and concepts, and performance tests, like block design and mazes,
to measure visual and problem-solving skills.
The test consists of 11 subtests, and 10 out of it is used to calculate the child’s IQ score.
It was created by Dr. Arthur Malin, adapting the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children
(WISC) to better suit Indian children.
The test is for children aged 6 to 15 and provides scores in Verbal IQ, Performance IQ, and
Full-Scale IQ.
The results help identify the child’s strengths and areas where they might need extra help.
The test is carefully standardized, meaning it has been tested on a representative sample
of Indian children to ensure fairness.
Each subtest is scored based on how well the child performs, and the final score is
interpreted using age-based norms. The test also offers guidelines for how to administer and
interpret the results in a way that minimizes stress for the child.
