Once upon a time, there was the story of Princess Mérida.

For her 6th birthday, her father

gave her a bow and arrows. One day, in the forest, Mérida encounters a wisp. His mother
tells him that will-o'-the-wisps guide men to their destiny. Later, Mor'du, a bear attacks the
family.

Ten years later, Mérida is ordered to become engaged to the son of an ally of her father. But
she doesn't want to and her mother tells her the legend of a prince who disobeyed his father
and destroyed his kingdom.

Three allied groups therefore come to the palace to confront each other and the reward is
marriage to Mérida. This one presents itself to compete for its own hand. She beats her
suitors in archery. Her mother is angry and burns her daughter's bow. Mérida flees into the
forest and follows wisps to an old witch's cabin. He prepares magic cookies to change
Mérida's mother.
When Elinor (the mother) ate a cookie, she turned into a mute bear, but still had a human
character. Mérida left the castle with her mother with the help of her three little brothers.
She wanted to go see the witch but the cabin had disappeared. They had until the end of the
day to find a solution. But she didn't succeed. Wisps lead Mérida and her mother to the ruins
where they come face to face with Mor'du. Mérida realizes that Mor'du is actually the prince
of the legend and that he asked for the same fate as her. She concluded that she had to go
back and see a tapestry of her family that she had torn.
When they arrive at the castle, they find the four clans and tell them that she would be
ready to marry according to the rules. But the chefs agree to break tradition.
They understand that the tapestry must be sewn back together. But her mother attacks
Fergus, and injures her daughter in the arm, before regaining consciousness and fleeing the
castle.
The king, believing that Elinor is Mor'du, sets out in pursuit of the bear with the other
kingdoms. Mérida is a prisoner of the castle and escapes with the help of her three little
brothers (transformed into bear cubs), she sews the tapestry. Merida arrives in time and
stops her father from killing Elinor. Mor'du attacks the leaders then heads towards Mérida to
devour her, but Elinor blocks him. After a fight, Mor'du ends up being crushed by a menhir.
Mérida covers her mother with the tapestry, but nothing happens. Merida reconciles with
Elinor (which was the witch's true goal). The spell is broken and Elinor becomes human
again, just like Mérida's little brothers.
