I understand that I’m in no position to say this is a simple method for
making passive income since I own an email list that makes this strategy
feasible.

Nevertheless, I’ll do my best to break down exactly why email is the best
marketing strategy and also share how you can get started even as a
beginner.

My Take On Email Marketing

A study conducted on email marketing showed that for every dollar

invested, there was a $36-$40 return.

Simply put, the conversion rate when selling through an email list is
much higher than on any other platform.

Moreover, your email list is like a second family—you essentially own

that part of your audience.
Because with social media and most other marketing strategies, only a
small portion of your audience ever sees your content, and the algorithm
decides whether or not to keep promoting your content based on how
that small group reacts.

But it’s entirely different with email marketing; when you send an email
to 1,000 people, depending on your delivery, almost all of them receive
your email.

This increases the chances of them actually reading and clicking through
to buy what you promote.

So it makes me laugh when people say email marketing is slowly fading

away when, in reality, it’s only becoming more relevant as more people
turn away from the chaotic nature of social media to content they
intentionally sign up to receive through email.
How I Made $1,652 Just From Sending 2 Emails

Months ago, I received an email from a reader and customer who had
accessed one of my eBooks.

She mentioned that she wanted to partner with me on a product she was
working on.

This was a bold move, and her confidence really stood out to me.

I asked more questions, and there was no doubt that this lady was an
expert in what she was talking about.

Convinced, I said yes, and after months of her working on this product, it
finally launched to the public.

This was a huge achievement, and she sent me access to the materials
for free, and they were awesome.

Last week, I decided to share it with my email list and after just two
emails, this campaign made me $1,652.
This was a win-win situation because I was very comfortable selling this
product to my audience as it was worth its price.

Long story short, email marketing works, and you should stop being
skeptical about trying this marketing strategy.

So enough about me—how can you start something similar for yourself?

How To Make Money With Email Marketing From Scratch

Well, it starts with owning an email list in the first place.

And contrary to what many people think, you don’t need to have a huge
audience for this to be possible.

In fact, I have a free way to help you build your email list even if you
don’t have a single follower.

It’s simply by creating freebie posts on Facebook.

I’m not even joking; this strategy works.

I took a screenshot of one of my email list categories before I started

promoting this freebie on Facebook.
Fast forward to just one promo post later, and that email list category
has grown significantly
—yes, using just one Facebook group.

But there’s a caveat: when it comes to promoting in Facebook groups,

there are rules you have to follow.

• The first rule is to never post in a Facebook group unrelated to

what you’re trying to sell.

• The second rule is to never post a promo in a Facebook group

without first reading the group’s rules.

Most groups, especially outside the "make money online" niche, won’t
mind you posting these freebie or even promo offers, just like this writer
Facebook group I posted on.
but some only allow free promos on specified days.

So, read the rules first, and when it’s time to pitch your email list, make a
post along these lines

I’m giving away a

FREE (add your
offer) to (what your
freebie does)! Who
wants access?
You can paraphrase the post as much as you want, and add emojis to
make it fun.Just make sure to include the word "free."

Then, once people start commenting that they’re interested in your

freebie.
Ask them to send you a direct message with a particular keyword related
to your freebie, such as “free workbook.”

Then you simply go through all these messages and reply with a link to
subscribe to grab your freebie.

Sounds hectic, but it works.

I use Gumroad to host these freebies, and they allow you to price your
products at $0—that’s how you build a list with freebies.

What To Do Once You’ve Built Your Email List

It’s more common than you might imagine to build a list and not know
how to monetize it. It’s really frustrating, too.

I once built a list of 169 subscribers and didn’t know what to do next or
how to turn this asset into passive income.
That’s why I’ll always say to plan out your monetization strategy before
you even start building your list.

Planning is essential, and thankfully it’s easy as there are a dozen ways to
make money with an email list.

• You could promote someone else’s product, like I did.

• Or maybe even sell your own digital product.

• You could also take on sponsors once you’ve grown to a certain

level or create a premium subscription package for more access to
you.

The real challenge isn’t in monetizing your email list but in winning the
trust of your subscribers.

Which is way more achievable than you think—because for someone to

give you their email already means they trust you to some extent.

You just need to make a bit more effort to win a larger portion of that
trust, and that’s where your email strategy comes in.
What Should You Share With Your List Once It Starts To Grow?

Well, here’s a system you can try:

Sequence 1.

Once they subscribe to your list, share a welcome sequence with three
emails, giving a brief introduction to who you are and how you intend to
help them even more (don’t try to sell here, just offer pure value).

Sequence 2.

Next, send out a weekly free newsletter where you provide more value
on the same topic and include prompts to encourage them to reply to
your emails and engage with you.

Sequence 3.

Finally, set up an automated sequence scheduled for 2-3 weeks after

they subscribe to pitch your product.

You can also run launches for new products and hint at upcoming
launches as well.
Conclusion

The key to making money from the emails you send is to sound as
relatable and personalized as possible;

this is because you want your emails to feel like you’re talking to just one
person.

That said, using ChatGPT to write these emails is a no-go.

But I get it—email marketing can be pretty draining, from creating the
freebie, growing your list, and finally writing the right content to sell to
your list.
