B. qualifications for membership
1. For Regular Membership
a) Licensed chemists; or
b) Holder of bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or
Agricultural Chemistry with 1 year work experience in any of the
aforementioned fields; or
c) Holders of graduate (MS and/or PhD) degrees in any of the
aforementioned fields; or
d) Holders of graduate (MS and/or PhD) degrees in allied sciences
provided their research and/or related to any of the
aforementioned fields.
2. For Associate Membership
a) Licensed chemists; or
b) Holders of bachelors degree in any of the aforementioned fields
who have not yet passed the Chemistry licensure examination and
with no work experience; or
c) Holders of bachelors degree in the allied sciences with at least 30
units in chemistry earned with or without experience but with an
interest in the advancement of the chemical sciences in the
country; or
d) Holders of a bachelor's degree in allied sciences with 15 units of
chemistry courses and with two years of work experience in a
chemistry related field.

II. Philippine Association of Chemistry Teachers
A. short history or background about the organization
1. Started in 1961 by Dr. Arthur Livermor and future PACT President Father
William J Schmitt, who aimed to create a teachers association who will
aid to advance the country’s national development, social and economic
advancement through Chemistry. A constitution following the Californian
Chemistry Teachers Association was soon drafted after the society’s
founding along with a board of members and officers headed by Dr.
Mariano Pangan, as the acting President. Events to show how
laboratories can be used in teaching chemistry, seminars local and
internationally, and workshops have since been created to this day in an
effort to continue to pursue the goals of its founding members.
