Welcome to Valencia! The home of paella, but not just !
Valencia is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city on the Mediterranean coast. Once the
capital of its own kingdom, it is now a regional capital and Spain’s third
largest city. The city was founded by the Romans, taken by the Visigoths, and
prospered under the Moors. Each civilisation has left its mark and the historic
centre includes a 13th century cathedral (La Seo) with paintings by Goya, and
a splendid gothic 15th century silk exchange (La Lonja). The city is home to
one of Europe’s most exciting urban development projects, including the Arts
and Science Centre, located near to the port.
Valencia is also one of the most important regions of the Spanish aquaculture sector. Not only in production
volumes, but also in scientific excellence. Marine Aquaculture is indeed a very active sector at the Valencian region,
leading Spanish production of marine fish, mainly sea bream, meagre and sea bass.
The Valencian Council of Education, Universities and Employment and the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation
and Universities have co-funded a multidisciplinary research program of excellence –ThinkInAzul Valencian
Community- focused on Marine Sciences to mitigate the effects of climate change on the conservation of the
marine environment and aquaculture production. The programme co-ordinated at the regional level by CSIC,
together with the University of Alicante, will finish in 2025 and AE2025 will be one of the platforms to communicate
the outcomes of this important initiative.
AE2025 will take place at the Palacio de Congresos (Valencia Congress Centre) and the adjacent Sercotel Sorolla
Palace Hotel. The President’s reception will take place at the Arts and Science Centre - Arqueries site -.
Valencia International Airport is located 8 km to the west of the city and most European
cities are within 1-3 hours flying time. #AE25VAL
Engaging with Industry
The Aquaculture Europe events are all about communication with the sector. AE2025 will feature a special
international trade exhibition, where regional and international companies will present their latest products and
services. Standard and Corner booths are available, and each booth is 6m2 (2x3m) and features walls, carpet, two
chairs and one table, spotlights, one power outlet, fascia identification sign and two free full delegate registrations
for the conference. Additional staff can register through the booth contract at significantly reduced rates.
The AE events also feature special forums for industry, where
presentations and panel discussions focus on relevant and REGISTRATION RATES
timely issues for the sector. Other industry-oriented events will
