• Refer to Service Manual and Operation and Maintenance Manual (OMM) for safety
guidelines prior to working on equipment.
• Make all repairs with the industrial truck parked on a level, hard surface. Block the industrial
truck to prevent rolling while working on, or under, the industrial truck. Use a tire cage if tires
are to be replaced or worked on.
• Ensure enforcement of company policy for proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedure.
• Do not operate this industrial truck until you read and understand the instructions in the
Service Handbook (SH) and Operating Instructions (BL). Improper industrial truck operation
is dangerous and could result in injury or death.
• Disconnect battery prior to working on any electrical components or welding.
• Obey all safety guidelines when welding on or near flammable fluids. Always have an
approved fire extinguisher on hand.

Installing software to flash controllers.
Cause:
When installing new controllers or performing software updates
when the controllers need to be flashed.
Resolution:
Install software from laptop to flash controllers.

Steps for completion:
1. Navigate to MCFA Download Center® and download EKS314A Software.

2. All software needed will be in the .zip file, you will need to extract
CANUpdaterTool1.3.2.10.zip file first (see next step.)

3. Extract the CANUpdaterTool1.3.2.10 zip folder by right-clicking on
the .zip file > WinZip > Extract to here.

4. Open the extracted folder and install the installupdater.msi file.
Installupdater.msi is for 64 bit computers, and Installupdater32.msi is for 32 bit computers.

5. Note: If an earlier version of updater was installed, you will have to uninstall it first.
Then install current version of updater1.3.2.10.

6. Once installed, you will need to find and copy all folders for CurtisUpdater into the Judit project. These
files are located in the following directory: C:\Program Files\Curtis Instruments\CurtisUpdater

7. Now paste the copied folders into the Judit project using the following path:
C:\Program Files\Jungheinrich AG\Diagnose\Judit-3\Projekte\EKS_314_2016\Flash
8. Paste and replace all files when prompted.

9. Copy the all zipped controller software files into path C:\Curtis

• Shown below is what the Curtis folder should look like once the files are pasted.

• Now that the software is installed, Judit should show the flash files.

10. Confirm to have project EKS_314_2016 V:4.1.5.0, if not at this version, install the EKS314_314_2016
project patch that is included in the EKS314 software download.

11. Select the display.

12. Select the Software version tab.

13. Press the Exit Diagnose for Flashing button. This will put the controllers into bootloader
mode so they can be flashed.

14. Make sure the proper software is selected, then press the Flash button.

A DOS box will open showing the status of the flash process.

Once completed, Flash success will be displayed.
Note: DOS box will disappear when complete.

15. You may see the following ConsoleApp error. This does not mean the flash was a failure,
simply click the Close program button and repeat process for the pump and steering controller.

16. Next, cycle the key switch OFF, then ON. If the unit is equipped with a keypad,
unplug the battery for 15 seconds to exit the bootloader mode. Plug battery in and
turn on unit on via keypad.
17. After flashing software it is necessary to set mast lift height, refer to the data tag and
enter in mm.

18. Using the industrial truck display, teach the control handle, mast transition and wire guidance.
19. Always check unit for proper operation after any maintenance, then return to service.
