Electricity - Class 10 NCERT Formulas

1. Electric Current (I)

I=Q/t

Where:

I = current (amperes, A)

Q = charge (coulombs, C)

t = time (seconds, s)

2. Potential Difference (V)

V=W/Q

Where:

V = potential difference (volts, V)

W = work done (joules, J)

Q = charge (coulombs, C)

3. Ohm's Law

V=IxR

Where:

V = potential difference (V)

I = current (A)

R = resistance (Ohm)

4. Resistance (R)

R = rho x (l / A)

Where:

rho = resistivity (Ohm·m)

l = length (m)

A = cross-sectional area (m^2)

Electricity - Class 10 NCERT Formulas

5. Series Combination of Resistors

R_total = R1 + R2 + R3 + ...

6. Parallel Combination of Resistors

1 / R_total = 1 / R1 + 1 / R2 + 1 / R3 + ...

7. Electric Power (P)

P=VxI

Also:

P = I^2 x R

P = V^2 / R

8. Electrical Energy (E)

E=Pxt

Commercial Unit:

1 kWh = 1000 W x 3600 s = 3.6 x 10^6 J
