1. Initial Phase

Assistant professor Sheetal Nagar started by introducing herself and

gave us the introduction of computer department she also explained the
vision of computer department that is to provide value-based
technology education in Computer Engineering. And she added that
mission of computer is to bring out graduates who can solve challenges
of industry and society by applying computing techniques. To impart
human and ethical values among students in the service of society.
Gujarat Technical University organizes an Induction program with
aims to train engineering graduates well in branch of admission, have
a holistic personality and must have desire to serve society and nation.
It is expected that an engineering graduate work for solving the
problems of society using the modern technologies and practices. That
needs the broad understanding of the society and relationships. It is
needed to cultivate the human values in engineering graduates to fulfil
his responsibilities as an engineer, a citizen and a human being.
Considering the various social backgrounds and whether a
student comes from the urban or rural areas they differ in many
They are facing the issues like hostel and settlements, pressures
from peers and many related issues. To overcome such issues, it
is necessary to create an environment for students so that they feel
comfortable, find their interest and explore their inner beings, of
the life skills and their abilities and thinking. There branch of
admission may be due to rush; their interest in subject is question.
create bonding with other students, establish relation with
teachers, work for excellence, get a broader view of life and
practice human values to build characters. The Induction Program
covers the various activities which enables them to overcome all
such issues and motivates them to perform well in their chosen
branch of admission.
2. Universal Human Values

In this session we learnt the concept of harmony. Harmony is a

situation in which people are peaceful and agree with each other, or
when different things seem right or suitable together. Also, we learned
why it is important to be in harmony not only with ourselves but with
family, friends, society, nature, etc.
Harmony in family, society, and human relations is rooted in shared
values and a deep understanding of our interconnectedness. When we
recognize the importance of these values and work towards a
universal harmonious order, we can create a world where every
individual and community coexist peacefully, promoting the well-
being of all.
In the next session of UHV (Universal human values) we learned on
how to be in harmony with self, friends, family, society and nature.
Other than harmony we learned about self-esteem, self-awareness,
how to manage time schedule which was very important for self-
growth. Self-esteem is the overall opinion we have of ourselves. Self-
awareness is the ability to understand oneself, including one's
thoughts, feelings, motivations, and behaviors. It is also the ability to
recognize how one is perceived by others
3. Physical Activity

A healthy and strong body is like an ornament. If we are healthy, we

will be able to learn new things properly, go on excursions or
participate well in events and competitions. Physical exercise is
defined as any movement that makes your muscles work and requires
your body to burn calories. There are many types of physical activity,
including swimming, running, jogging, walking and dancing, etc.
shown to have many health benefits, both physically and mentally. It
may even help you live longer
We played various outdoor games like Nargol, catch-catch,
Kho-Kho, badminton, cricket, etc.
4. Familiarization of Department

• Professor gave us the tour of computer department showing all

the location of labs and classes. Then they all said there are 17
faculties in our department who are highly qualified and
experienced. They also shown us the general notice board and 1st

5.Visit to local area

We visited Gopal Snacks at Metoda GIDC Gate 2. Upon arrival, we

were given caps and masks to ensure that our hair did not fall into
the food items in the factory. After that, we received instructions on
what not to do inside the factory. We began our visit with an
overview of the history of Gopal Snacks.

Next, we were taken to the third floor of the factory, where all the
raw materials are stored in containers with openings at the bottom.
These openings allow the materials to flow directly to the second
floor, where automatic machines are used to produce the products.
The processed items are then transferred to the first floor, where
automatic machines package them. Each pack contains an equal
amount of the product, and workers then place these packs into
boxes, preparing them for distribution to shops and malls.

At the end of our visit, we learned about the benefits provided to the
employees of Gopal Snacks.
6. Lecture by eminent people

This session was taken by

eminent people, Expert: Shri
Rajiv Bhai V. Kacha (Yog
Coach, Gujarat State Yog
Board). they explained the
meaning of yoga. The word
'Yoga' is derived from the
Sanskrit root 'Yuj', meaning
'to join' or 'to yoke' or 'to
unite'.
yoga can help you in
innumerable ways, as it
empowers your body, mind
and soul to fight the stress
and everyday problems of
life. Modern uncontrolled
lifestyle has led our generation to health disorders and
emotional distress. A bad lifestyle and absence of
selfawareness could lead to destructive habits and a
pessimistic vision of life. To cleanse your body and spirit you
should find out the right kind of Yoga for yourself and practice
them regularly for best results. Every yoga poster has some
exclusive benefits for your body and soul. It helps you control
your mind

Some benefits of yoga

• Increases Flexibility
• Boosts metabolism
• Increases blood flow.
• Keep diseases at bay
• Increases self-esteem
• Helps in lowering blood sugar
• Builds metabolism
• Relaxes body and mind
• Cool downs anger, anxiety
7. Proficiency Modules

In this session we watched two movies

first movie was ‘life of Pi’. It is a movie
about a man who survives months in
the ocean on a lifeboat with a tiger
named Richard Parker. Through this
movie we learned the importance of
determination, courage, faith,
resourcefulness, etc. but we also
explored how people can survive both
physically and mentally.

The story of the life and academic career

of the pioneer Indian mathematician,
Srinivasa Ramanujan, and his friendship
with his mentor, Professor G.H. Hardy.
Ramanujan was an Indian mathematician.
He had no training in mathematics but still
made contribution in mathematical
analysis, number theory, infinite series,
and continued fractions.
8. Literature

In this session we got to know the difference between the terms

literature and literacy. We also understood the difference
between a literate person and educated person. Literature
means books and writings published on a particular subject.
Literacy means the ability to read and write. Educated person
refers to a person who has attained a level of higher education.

In next session we read a story in English

and converted story in Gujarati. Then we
read a story of ‘Kindhearted pea’ and wrote
a summary on it in our own words. In this
story A pea pod falls from a plant and three
peas wake up. Each pea wishes to go
somewhere different when the wind offers to
take them on a journey. The first pea wants
to go to the sun but gets burned, the second pea wants to be a
queen but gets squished, and the third pea wants to help people.
The wind takes the third pea to a house where a sick boy needs
something to live for. The pea feels a change and wants to grow
to help the boy.
9. Creative Practices

In this session Professor Priyanka Raval taught us about

steganography and cryptography. Steganography is the practice
of representing information within another message or physical
object, in such a manner that the presence of the concealed
information would not be evident to an unsuspecting person’s
examination. In computer science field a computer file, message,
or video is concealed within another file, message, image, or
video. Professor also told us that the word steganography comes
from Greek word ‘steganographia’, which combines the words
steganos meaning “covered or concealed” and -graphia
meaning “writing”.

Cryptography is a method of
protecting information and
communication using codes, so
that only those for whom the
information is intended, can read
and process it.

Professor also gave us

assignment to make a
cryptography or steganography
in a group or individually. I and my
group made a project on
steganography we used time to
hide the information of the location
of any room in the college.
10. Co-Curricular Activities

In this session professor gave us the format of report.

Additionally, they also mentioned all the points required for any
college report like logo, name of the university, name of the
student submitting the report, enrollment no., branch, and
signatures, etc. on the first page then followed by certificate,
declaration, acknowledgment, abstract of the report, and list of
figures. Then in starting is to make index which will cover title
and page no. and then actual report of the event which is main
important point of the report. Then to finish the report lastly is the
appendix. That are the things for writing a report on any event in
the college.
