How to receive prophecy

We want to understand how to receive prophecy. Its importnat to understand what consistitute the
right attitude to have when it comes to prophesying.

When it comes to the subject of receiving prophecy, it’s important to approach it with an open heart
and mind. Being receptive to the message being shared with you is crucial, as it can offer guidance and
insight into various aspects of your life.

Additionally, maintaining a respectful and humble attitude towards the person delivering the prophecy
is also important. It’s a sacred exchange that should be treated with reverence and understanding.

As for the act of prophesying, it’s essential to do so with sincerity and a genuine desire to bring forth
positive energy and wisdom. By approaching prophecy with the right mindset and attitude, both the
receiver and the deliverer can create a harmonious and meaningful experience.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 KJV — “Rejoice evermore. [17] Pray without ceasing. [18] In every thing give
thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. [19] Quench not the Spirit. [20] Despise
not prophesyings. [21] Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. [22] Abstain from all appearance of
evil.“

The passage above offers important instructions and guidelines to receiving prophecy. It emphasizes the
significance of being open and receptive to the messages being conveyed, as well as the need for
patience and discernment in interpreting the prophetic insights. Furthermore, it underscores the value
of humility and inner reflection in preparing oneself to receive such profound revelations. These key
points serve as a reminder of the responsibility that comes with engaging in the process of receiving
prophecy and the impact it can have on one’s life and the lives of others.

1. Quench the spirit; stir the spirit through praise and faith and expectation

The first tip to receive prophecy is to stir the spirit. It’s essential to remember that one little wrong step
or attitude can quench the spirit and block the flow of revelation and inspiration. Therefore, it’s
important to be mindful of our thoughts, actions, and words to maintain an open and receptive spirit.

Additionally, creating an atmosphere of praise, prayer, and expectation can significantly contribute to
setting the stage for receiving prophecies. Engaging in praise and worship uplifts the spiritual
atmosphere, while sincere and heartfelt prayers invite divine presence and guidance. Moreover,
maintaining a sense of hopeful expectation signifies our readiness and anticipation to receive prophecies
or divine insights. These practices not only help in preparing ourselves but also demonstrate our
eagerness to connect with the spiritual realm and receive meaningful revelations. Prophecy requires an
atmosphere of praise, prayer, and expectation.
In the ancient land of Israel, a young man named Saul experienced a transformative encounter with the
Prophet Samuel, which led to a series of extraordinary events. It is said that during this encounter, Saul
met a company of prophets, who were engaged in prophesying amidst praise and dancing. As the spirit
of the Lord descended upon this young man, he too began to prophesy, much to the surprise of those
around him. The onlookers were astounded by this unexpected turn of events and even went as far as
to question whether Saul was indeed among the prophets. This remarkable occurrence serves as a
testament to the mysterious and awe-inspiring nature of divine intervention, where the ordinary can be
touched by the extraordinary and be forever changed.

I believe King Saul’s ability to prophesy was enhanced by the atmosphere of singing, praying, and
prophesying of the other prophets. When you consider the power of spiritual songs and psalms, it
becomes evident that they have a unique ability to stir the atmosphere for prophesying. The melodic
tones of spiritual songs, combined with the heartfelt prayers and the prophetic utterances of others,
create an environment that is conducive to receiving divine revelation.

In many traditions and religious practices, music and singing have been recognized as powerful tools for
accessing higher spiritual states. The rhythmic patterns and lyrical content of spiritual songs and psalms
can elevate the consciousness and open the heart and mind to receive insights and inspiration. When
individuals come together in a collective expression of faith through music and prayer, it can create a
synergy that amplifies the prophetic flow.

The Psalms, in particular, have been a source of inspiration and meditation for countless believers
throughout the ages. Their poetic and emotive language, combined with the themes of praise, lament,
and thanksgiving, have a profound impact on the human spirit. When these ancient texts are set to
music and sung with devotion, they can indeed create an atmosphere that is conducive to prophetic
revelation.

Furthermore, the act of prophesying itself is often accompanied by a sense of spiritual elevation and
connectedness. As individuals engage in prophetic utterances, they are tapping into a higher source of
wisdom and insight. The combination of singing, prayer, and prophesying creates a rich tapestry of
spiritual expression that can undoubtedly enhance the prophetic abilities of those involved.

In conclusion, the atmosphere of singing, praying, and prophesying plays a significant role in enhancing
the prophetic abilities of individuals, as evidenced in the case of King Saul and many others throughout
history. The intertwining of music, prayer, and prophecy creates a potent environment for spiritual
revelation and divine communication.

2. Put the prophet at ease

The key step to stirring the prophetic is to ensure that the prophet is put at ease. It is essential for the
recipient to be in a state of openness and readiness to receive the divine message. This principle is
illustrated in the story of the prophet being sent to the widow at Zarapeth, while no widows in Samaria
were deemed ready to receive the word. This narrative underscores the significance of receptivity and
spiritual preparedness in the unfolding of prophetic events.

The Prophetic operates in an atmosphere of faith, praise and prayer. The prophet actually prophesies
according to his measure of faith; and we must receive it with faith and expectation. Understanding the
significance of faith, praise, and prayer is essential in comprehending the prophetic realm.

Faith serves as the foundation upon which prophetic utterances are built. It empowers the prophet to
speak forth the divine counsel with unwavering conviction, knowing that it is rooted in the trust of the
Almighty.

Moreover, praise enriches the prophetic atmosphere by creating a harmonious and spiritually uplifting
environment. It paves the way for open communication with the Divine and invites the prophetic word
to flow freely, unhindered by doubt or disbelief.

Similarly, prayer forms the backbone of the prophetic ministry, aligning the prophet’s heart and mind
with the will of God. Through prayer, the prophet becomes attuned to the promptings of the Holy Spirit,
enabling them to articulate fervent, life-transforming prophecies that resonate with truth and love.

As recipients of the prophetic word, it is incumbent upon us to embrace it with unwavering faith and
eager anticipation. By doing so, we position ourselves to receive the full measure of the prophetic
utterance, allowing it to take root in our lives and bring about the fulfillment of God’s purposes.

In conclusion, the interconnected dynamics of faith, praise, and prayer are integral to the prophetic
realm, shaping its ethos and impact. As we delve deeper into these profound truths, we are poised to
experience the transformative power contained within the prophetic utterances.

3. Despise not prophesying.

The significance of spiritual discernment cannot be overstated, as it plays a crucial role in understanding
matters of a spiritual nature. The teachings illustrate how those who are grounded in purely worldly
perspectives may struggle to comprehend spiritual concepts, often dismissing them as foolishness. This
sentiment is particularly pertinent when discussing the prophetic, which may appear nonsensical to
those without a spiritual inclination. The idea of speaking on behalf of a divine entity, one capable of
bringing about existence from non-existence, may indeed appear absurd to the uninformed observer.
However, it is through the lens of spiritual discernment that the profound wisdom and insight of such
endeavors become clear.

Don’t ever, in your life despise prophesying; even if you don’t believe shut up! The man who despised
the prophecy of a barley of wheat being sold for a shekel died miserably.

It is crucial to emphasize the importance of respecting and valuing prophetic messages, regardless of
personal beliefs. In the mentioned context, the cautionary tale serves as a reminder of the
consequences that may befall those who dismiss prophecies without consideration. This narrative
underscores the significance of maintaining an open mind and refraining from underestimating the
potential impact of prophetic insights.

Understanding the historical and cultural contexts surrounding prophesying and prophecies can shed
light on their significance and relevance in various belief systems and traditions. By delving into the
intricacies of such narratives, we gain a deeper appreciation for their enduring influence on societies
and individuals alike. Don’t ever, in your life despise prophesying; even if you don’t believe shut up! The
man who despised the prophecy of a barley of wheat being sold for a shekel died miserably.

3. Prove all things and hold fast to all that is good; but abstain from all appearances of evil.

Prophecy is supposed to be judged. You must always judge every prophecy by the light of scripture. You
cannot swallow any prophecy hook, line, and sinker. You must prove all things and hold fast to that
which is good.

The importance of discernment when it comes to prophecy cannot be overstated. It is crucial to

evaluate any prophecy in light of the teachings and principles found within scripture. In doing so, one
can avoid accepting false or misleading prophecies without question. The admonition to “prove all
things and hold fast to that which is good” is a timeless reminder of the need for critical evaluation in
matters of prophecy. This principle emphasizes the responsibility of individuals to carefully examine and
test any prophecy they encounter, rather than accepting it unquestioningly. In essence, the approach to
prophecy should be one of thoughtful consideration and examination, guided by the wisdom and truth
found in scripture.

The message that the prophet conveys is inherently limited, as they possess only partial knowledge and
can prophesy only in part. This signifies that the prophet’s understanding is not comprehensive,
underscoring the necessity to carefully evaluate and consider the words they impart to you. The
acknowledgment of the prophet’s inherent limitations serves as a reminder to approach their prophetic
messages with discernment and critical examination, recognizing that their insights may not encompass
the entirety of the truth.

Remember, the prophet knows in part and prophesy in part. The prophet doesn’t know everything;
hence the need to weigh his word to you.
