help of conventional symbols. They can be rolled or folded, stored, and carried around
easily.

2. What is a globe? What are its advantages?


● A globe is an accurate three-dimensional model of the Earth, mounted on a tilted shaft to
show the inclination of the Earth's axis and rotation.

The advantages of a globe include:

○ It shows the relative shapes, sizes, and directions of oceans and continents
accurately.
○ It helps in understanding how days and nights are caused.
3. Name the essential elements of a map.
● The essential elements of a map include:
○ Title
○ Direction
○ Scale
○ Legend
○ Grid

4. A globe is the most accurate model of the Earth. Give reason.


● A globe is considered the most accurate model of the Earth because it shows the Earth's
shape, size, and geographical features in a three-dimensional form. Unlike maps, globes
do have accurate proportions of landmasses and water bodies.

5. Distinguish between Physical maps and Political maps.


● Physical Maps:
○ Show geographical features like mountains, rivers, and plains.
○ Provide detailed information about the natural landscape
● Political Maps:
○ Show boundaries of countries, states, and cities.
○ Focus on human-made divisions rather than natural features
