IGCSE Art and Design -Component 2- Protect
Deadline: 19th of April
Student’s name:

1. Primary research
2. Artist study 1 (Student’s choice)
3. Artist study 2 (Student’s choice)
4. Final piece planning (combining both artists’ techniques to present a personal idea)
5. Final piece (10 hours exam)

Content
1. Primary o Experiment with different processes, materials and techniques and apply
research them to your own ideas. Practical development through experiments with
different media- at least 2 media experiments. Minimum size A4.
o Briefly annotate your media trials. Refer to annotation writing guide on
Teams.
2. Artist research o Creatively present research on the chosen artist who link with your theme.
1 o Create 2 personal responses showing a connection to the artist’s technique
and final piece idea Minimum size-A4, max-A3.
o Write comments/annotations around the artists’ work and link to the theme
and your response. Show that you have an understanding of the formal art
elements of line, tone, form, space, colour and texture via
notes/annotations. Refer to examples in the ‘Artist research’ ppt shared via
Satchel and Teams
3. Artist study 2- o Creatively present research on the chosen artist who link with your theme.
o Create 2 personal responses showing a connection to the artist’s technique
and final piece idea Minimum size-A4, max-A3.
Write comments/annotations around the artists’ work and link to the theme
and your response. Show that you have an understanding of the formal art

4. Final piece o Complete your final piece design experiments with materials, experiment
planning with composition and construction so that you feel in control of what you
are doing before you start your final piece. Clearly link your final piece idea
with your preparatory work and both artists’ techniques. 1-2 design ideas
that show experimentation, ideas development process, link to both artists
and your personal and meaningful idea.
o Include evidence of how your ideas have developed from the start of your
project to the end, making sure there is a clear connection in terms of
chosen subject matter/theme/techniques.
5. Final piece – 10 o Produce a finished main piece of work that brings together the whole unit of
hours, 23-24th work.
