conditions, The system comprises multiple fans positioned
in airflow pathovays and deployable skies that interact with,
the ground surface. ina frst mode, a complete set of skins
creates filly sealed bounded region under the vehicle with
‘central Fans generating maximum downforce at low specs
fon smooth surfaces. In a second mode, a subset of skins
{primarily se skis) modifies the bounded region while all
fans operate to provide downforce in dynamic driving
cconulitions with uneven surfaces. The system includes a
control mechanisan 1 seletively deploy skirts and operate
fans based on driving conditions, opiazing between maxi=
‘mum downforce at low speeds and improved performance
‘over varying terrain at higher speeds.

improving vehicle peefonnance. Specifically, disclosed
‘examples relate to active aerodynamic elements that ean
‘lynamically adjust ro eahance vehicle characteristics under
‘various driving conditions.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
According to certain examples, the present disclosure
provides a molti-smode powered serodynamies system for
Vehicles to increase downforce generation acrost various
living conditions. The system utilizes a combination of |
selectively deployable skins and fans to ereate and costo]
low-pressure regions beneath the vehicle, thereby increasing
tire prip and vehicle performance. This system seeks 10
address the limitations of existing povvered aerodynamic
solutions by providing adaptable configurations that can be
‘modified for different driving scenarios, fom smooth
seaightlive aeceleration to dynamie driving over varying
‘nat Teast one example, the vehile aerodynamic system
inckades« plurality of fans positioned in airflow pathways,
4 plurality of selectively deployable skins configured 10
interact with the ground surfoce, and a control system that
‘manages the operation of both the fans and skits. The
2
system can be configured to operate in multiple modes, each
‘oplimized for specific driving conditions and perlonmance
requirements.
“The system operates by erating bounded (eg, sealed or
partaly-sealed) regions beneath the vehicle through the
Selective deployment of skins that interoet with the ground
surface. Fans positioned in airflow pathways that extend to
these bounded regions generate low pressure within these
areas by extracting ai, ereating, downforce that enhances
vehicle grip and stability (eg., by creating a vacuum, or
partial vacuum inthe bounded regions). The control system
‘manages the transition between diferent operating modes by
adjusting skirt deployment and) fan operation based on
12
nipate changes in operating conditions. For example, the
system ean predict approaching varying terrain and prepare
appropriate mode transition.
In some examples, the fan assembly system 520 may
include central fans 522 equipped with motors for down
force generation in the first mode, and outboard fans 24
‘with capabilities optimized for the second operating mode.
In some examples, each fan incorporates variable blade
‘mechanisms and PWM control interfaces opening at 12-bit
resolution and 25 kHz for precise aiflow control
‘The airflow pathway system 526 comprises central path
sways that extend into the bounded region and outboard
pathways positioned toward the vehicle sides, wth convera-
ing-divenging sections having arca ratios between 12:1 ad
2:1 to optimize low characterises,
In some examples, the skin deployment system $28
‘manapes thee distinet mechanisms: side skins §30, fro!
rear skins 832, and central skirts 534. Each mechanism
incorporates hinge assemblies or extension mechanisms for
deployment conto, position sensors for accurate feedback,
and actuators for precise movement. The system enables
both fall deployment for downforce generation and partial
deployinent for itermediate operating consitions
"The monitoring and feedback system 536 incomporates
‘various sensors including pressure monitors $38 that mea-
sure conditions Withia the bounded regions, perfomance
‘monitors S40 that teack fan motor current deaw and skit
position accuracy, and a fault detector $42 that idemifies
sensor failures and mechanical issues
‘The system implements multiple connection flows. For
‘example: data connection linking sensors through the inter-
face module tothe processor subsystem and control signals
to fan motors and. skit actuators, physical connections
Teween fan assemblies, aieflow pathways, and bounded
‘regions; contro lows managing operating mode transitions
and user interfice connections enabling driver contol aad
feedback through dashboard indicators and disgnostic data
logging
