Exp 2

The document outlines an experiment for EEE 366 at CUET focused on simplifying Boolean logic equations using DeMorgan’s Theorem. It includes objectives, required integrated circuits, experimental procedures, and tasks with truth tables for various logic configurations. The report section requires students to analyze the Boolean equations and relationships derived from the experiments.

Experiment No.: 03
Experiment Name: Study the technique to simplify and modify the Boolean
logic equations by means of DeMorgan’s Theorem

OBJECTIVES:
To simplify and modify the Boolean logic equations by means of DeMorgan’s theorem.

REQUIRED ICs:
1. 2 input OR gate (7432)
2. NOT gate (7404)
3. 2 input NAND gate (7400)

DeMorgan’s theorem: This theorem permits conversion of logic from OR / NOR to AND /
NAND and AND / NAND to OR / NOR. DeMorgan’s theorem is given by

A  B  A.B
A.B  A  B

EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE:
For all ICs in this experiment; Vcc = +5 V to pin 14, 0 (ground) to pin 7.
Make all circuit arrangements as given below and complete the truth tables. For each part of
the experiment apply the indicated voltage. Use LED to see the output change for different
input combinations.

TASK:
1. For each point of logic diagram of Fig.1, express the Boolean equation in terms of the
input variables and write it on the diagram. What is the DeMorgan relationship between
X and Y?

REPORT:
1. For each part experimented above, what are the Boolean algebra equations at U, V, W, X
and Y in terms of the variables A and B? Express the DeMorgan relationship between A,
B, X and Y. Draw the circuit diagram and show the measured truth table of your circuit.
2. Answer all the questions given in the sheet.
3. Discussion.
