DISCUSSION
A descriptive study to assess the level of knowledge regarding immunization
among mothers of under five children in Mettur GH.
OBJECTIVES:
1. To determine the association between the level of knowledge
among mothers of under five children with their selected
demographic variables.
2. To assess the knowledge among the mothers of under five children
regarding immunization schedule.
OBJECTIVE - 1 : Description of demographic variables,
The above table reveals of (20(66.6 % ) of the respondence
were at the age group of below 25, in the mother educational level is
19(63.3%), is secondary school in religion all of the respondence belongs to
hindu, the mother occupation were 21(70%), 10(33.3%), earns from Rs,
15,000to 20,000, 25(83.3%) of them belongs to high class family, 20(66.6%)
are joint family, in 17(56.6%) are father is the breadwinner, 18(60%) of
respondence have 2 number of children, 12(40%) is parents were source of
information.
A Hazaratali panari and Aunchithra, k(2016), 72% we’re in the
age group of 21-25, in the mother educational level is (92%), in religion all of
the variables belongs to Hindu (64%), (56%) of family income below 2000,
(50%) came from middle class family, (76%) mothers stayed in joint family,
(42%) of mothers were having two children (92%) of mothers were earlier
heard about immunization.
OBJECTIVE - 2 :To assess the knowledge among the
mothers of under five children regarding immunization
schedule,
The above table reveals of (73.3%) 22 of the respondence
are safe and effective, the DPT vaccine is given for 11(36.6%) of the
respondence, (40%) of 12 of respondence have decreased hepatitis level,
(40%) 12 of the respondence of knowledge on immunization is promote
health, 12(40%) of the respondence of knowledge on vaccine is to prevent
measles, 20(66.6%) of the respondence of knowledge on route of polio
vaccine is intradermsl, (70%), 21of the respondence of knowledge on risk of
vaccine is fever and swelling, 12(40%) of the respondence of knowledge of
vaccine to children is reduce fever, 13(43.3%) of respondence of knowledge
of level on immunization among 11(36.6%) of the respondence taken
immunization in government hospital.
Kumar c et al k(2024) , the study evaluated the knowledge
of mothers of under five children regarding immunization. The maximum
score of the knowledge questionnaire was 17 and the range of score was
between 4 -17 . The findings of the study revalued that 13% had poor
knowledge, 63% had average knowledge and 24% had good knowledge
regarding under five immunization. Similar results found in study conducted
by jisy et al in which 30% of mothers had poor knowledge 33.4% of mothers
had average knowledge 23.4% if mothers had good knowledge regarding
under five immunization .
