INSTRUCTION MANUAL:

PORTABLE WELDING
FOR THREAD

MIGMATE 150
SOLTERSOLDADURA S.L. Migmate-150 2
INTRODUCTION
The welding machine you just acquired offers new advantages in the MIG/MAG and MOG welding process.
We hope that with the help of this manual and a little practice, you will be able to achieve excellent welds.
both in thin sheets and in other applications.
MIG/MAG/MOG WELDING PROCESS
The machine generates a direct current consisting of an electric arc that melts the electrode (In this case
it is the wire that is feeding the torch) in the piece we are welding.
The power needed for the electric arc is supplied by a transformer at whose current output...
a three-phase alternator is connected to a direct current rectifier.
The molten thread continuously comes out from the front of the torch pushed by the pull motor.
The welding current is transmitted to the wire through the arc that melts the metal wire, joining the metal part.
lica.
MIG/MAG PROCESS
A small flow of gas is sufficient to make a proper weld and avoid oxidation.
MOG PROCESS
The wire used has in the core a paste that melts through the heat produced in the welding.
stop the oxidation.
This core, once melted, forms a coating that solidifies on the surface of the weld and can be
easily removed with a wire brush.
This system has the advantage of low heat input on the piece, welding with a great ease of use.
Especially in thin sheets.

session and frequency indicated on the machine's nameplate.
Attention: The green-yellow wire is the ground connection; it is mandatory that the electrical outlet has a ground.
of earth.
2. ASSEMBLY OF THE THREAD SPOOL
If the thread spool does not come with the machine or needs to be replaced, proceed as follows:
a) Remove the metal tip from the end of the torch.
b) Position the thread spool in the anchor.
NOTE: Some models come with an adapter that allows the use of 5 Kg spools. In which-
Here, the coil of 0.225-0.450 Kg. of animated thread and the coil of 0.35-0.70 Kg. of normal thread are mounted.
connect directly to the machine without using an adapter.
The 5 Kg coil can be mounted using two adapters marked with the letter 's' or the letter 'z'.
I place the adapter 'z' on the pivot with the face of the larger diameter facing the panel of the welding machine, position-
Connect the coil and place the 's' adapter with the larger diameter side facing outward from the machine, collar
the plastic nut the knob and the spring.
c) Remove the free end of the thread from the spool, cutting the end in such a way that it has no curvature.
d) Next, pass the thread through the thread guide tube and in between the two little wheels that are the ones that make
advance the thread.
e) Tighten the drag spring, pay attention to ensure that the thread runs inside the track that the two wheels carry.
Note: The wheels that have two tracks, one is for 0.6 mm thread and the other for 0.8 mm thread.
Check that the channel where we place the thread is suitable for the diameter used.
f) Connect the ON/OFF machine and press the red button of the torch, the thread-dragging wheels will begin to
turn by dragging the thread until it comes out through the end of the torch. It is advisable to have the torch
well stretched to facilitate the exit of the thread.
g) When the thread has emerged from the end of the torch, ensure that the diameter of the tip is equivalent to the
diameter of the wire and put the metal protection back on.
3. POLARITY CONNECTION
FOR DUAL-PURPOSE VERSION ONLY
FOR NORMAL THREAD: (Needs Gas)
TORCH CABLE : CONNECTED (+)
GROUND CLAMP CABLE: CONNECTED (-)
FOR ANIMATED THREAD: (Without gas)
TORCH CABLE : CONNECTED (-)

welding current.
• To weld materials from 0.6 to 1.3 mm thick, set the switch to the “LOW” position.
• To weld thicker materials, set to the 'HIGH' position.
The fine regulation adjustment is done with the switches 'MAX' 'MED' 'MIN'.
The "MIN-MED" switches do not activate until the "MAX" switch is disconnected. The speed of the thread is au-
automatically regulated when switching from one position to another, also through the potentiometer we can
further adjust that speed.

WELDING OPERATION
Before starting the welding operation, make sure to:
1. I have read this manual carefully, particularly the sections related to safety.
2. Remove any deposit, bottle, etc. that contains flammable material.
3. The machine must be well ventilated.
4. Have a fire extinguisher on hand in case of any fire risk.
• Connect the ground clamp to the metal part to be welded, there must be good contact.
• Regulate the current and the speed of the thread taking into account the type of material, the thickness of the piece and the
diameter of the thread.
• Connect the machine to a power outlet and place the power switch in the 'ON' position.
• Cut the wick of the torch, making sure it sticks out about 3 mm from the end.
• Place the torch near the piece to be welded about 5-6 mm.
• Have the protective mask with the inactive crystal ready.
• Press the button on the torch and when the arc lights up, slowly move the torch in the direction
desired action.
• If when welding, you hear a small whistling sound, and a small ball forms at the end of the wire, increase
the speed of the thread, otherwise reduce the speed, until finding the right working point.
• The machine is equipped with a thermostat that disconnects automatically when the temperature of the trans-
