 This paper consists of TWO sections A and B.
 Answer all questions in section A and any FIVE questions in sections B.
 You should have the following for this examination;
i) Non programmable calculator
ii) SMP table
iii) Drawing instruments
iv) Answer booklet are provided.
 Maximum marks for each part of a question are shown.
 All questions per sections carry equal marks

1. Use the inverse matrix to solve; (12 marks)

2. Solve the following equation by completing the square. (12 marks)

3. The fifth term of an AP is 18 and the twelfth term is 46. Determine the 17th term.

4. In a geometrical progression the sum of the second and the third terms is 6, and the sum of the
second, third and fourth is -12. Find the first term and the common ratio.

5. A pyramid stands on a rectangular base of sides 5cm and 4cm. If the length of each
sloping edge is 11cm, calculate the volume of the pyramid. (12 marks)

6. Draw a histogram using the data given below. Determine the mean value by calculation and the
modal value from the histogram. (12 marks)
